J&S Hospitality Group Restaurant Shift Manager in Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas

The Restaurant Shift Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations and ensuring an exceptional guest experience from start to finish. This role leads front-of-house staff in a high-volume environment, maintaining service standards, driving team performance, and supporting profitability. The Shift Manager plays a key role in building guest loyalty, managing operations efficiently, and achieving business goals. This position offers growth opportunities and reports directly to the Restaurant Manager and Ownership.

General

Oversee all areas of the restaurant during assigned shifts, making decisions that support guest satisfaction, service quality, and operational efficiency. Lead and support staff to maintain company standards and a positive work environment.

Financial

Follow company standards to increase sales and control costs, including food, beverage, labor, and supplies. Ensure accurate completion of financial and administrative tasks. Maintain proper cash handling, reconciliation, and end-of-day procedures.

Food Safety and Planning

Enforce all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations. Maintain cleanliness and professional appearance standards throughout the restaurant. Monitor food quality, portions, and presentation, addressing any inconsistencies. Oversee ordering, receiving, and inventory control to ensure accuracy and minimize waste. Maintain ServSafe certification and compliance.

Guest Service

Ensure exceptional guest service at all times. Address concerns promptly and professionally, resolving issues to create positive guest experiences and encourage repeat business.

Operational Responsibilities

Maintain a safe and secure environment for guests and employees. Manage daily shift operations, including scheduling, planning, and decision-making while upholding quality and cleanliness standards. Investigate and resolve service and operational issues as they arise.

Personnel

Provide leadership, direction, and support to team members. Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management. Deliver ongoing coaching and feedback to promote employee development and accountability. Ensure proper staffing levels for all shifts.

Community Involvement

Represent the restaurant positively within the local community and support community engagement initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 3 years of management experience in a high-volume or upscale restaurant. College degree preferred; equivalent experience considered. Strong knowledge of restaurant operations, including food preparation, purchasing, sanitation, personnel management, and reporting.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Must possess a valid drivers license, be eligible to work in the United States, and agree to background and credit checks.

Maintain clear communication with Management, Chef, and Ownership regarding all operational matters. Complete responsibilities accurately and on time. Foster a positive and productive work environment aligned with company culture and Genuine Service standards. Perform additional duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION OF OTHERS

Supervises 10+ employees.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires long hours (typically 50+ per week), including nights, weekends, and holidays. Duties include prolonged standing, bending, and lifting up to 45 pounds. Work is performed in a fa t-paced environment with exposure to hot, cold, and potentially hazardous equipment, as well as standard office tools.
