Staff Accountant I- Cost Accounting

Reports to:Supervisor– Cost Accounting

Contributes to: Cost Accountingteam

Role Summary:

The Staff Accountant-Cost Accountingis responsible forprovidingaccuraterecording, analysis, and reportingonoverhead costsand fixed assets. This role willassistin budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and month-end close processes related to overhead and SG&A expenses. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of GAAP, and the ability to work collaboratively across finance and operations teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare/executeasset-related activities, including month-endfinancialcloseactivities andentries, preparation of fixed asset roll-forwardsand account reconciliations,maintainingCIP accounts and ensuring assets are placed into-service (depreciated/amortized) ona timelybasis, recording of disposals (and associated gain/loss on sale), etc.

  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations related to overhead expenses

  • Activelyparticipateinefforts to streamline the overall financialcloseprocess

  • Engage and partner with equipment/fleet operations personnel tofacilitatetimelyandaccuratein-service of assets whenpurchased/enteredCIP.

  • Monitor and analyze monthly overhead spending vs. budget, andidentifyvariances

  • Ensure compliance withcompany-wide fixed asset/capitalization policy and supporting processes.

  • Regular interaction/support of theexternal auditors for theconsolidated(and subsidiary)year-endaudits

  • Participate inspecial projects such as integration of neworacquiredcompanies,ERPsystem implementation, process improvements,etc.

  • Helpwithother responsibilities, asneeded, such asreal andpersonal propertytax filings,payroll/bonusaccrualsand related filings.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field

  • Strong understanding of accruals, expense allocation, and GAAP principles

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of accounting experience

  • Proficiencyin Exceland experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP,Oracleetc.)
