Jennie Stuart Health is seeking a Pharmacy Manager to lead the overall operations of the Pharmacy Department. This role is responsible for overseeing pharmaceutical care programs, drug distribution services, financial performance, regulatory compliance, and personnel management. The Pharmacy Manager will work closely with hospital and system leadership to ensure pharmacy services are high quality, cost effective, patient focused, and aligned with organizational goals.
In this role, the Pharmacy Manager will provide leadership for daily pharmacy operations, including budgeting, productivity monitoring, formulary compliance, purchasing and inventory oversight, pharmacy automation, and clinical pharmacy services. This position also plays a key role in quality improvement initiatives, staff development, interdisciplinary collaboration, and maintaining compliance with all applicable accrediting and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the overall operations of the hospital pharmacy department
Oversee financial performance, budget preparation, productivity, and cost-effective pharmacy services
Supervise drug distribution systems, including unit dose and IV admixture services
Partner with pharmacy leadership and business teams on purchasing and inventory management
Support and maintain pharmacy applications and automation systems
Promote safe, effective, and appropriate drug therapy through formulary management, monitoring, and program evaluation
Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
Interview, hire, train, develop, and evaluate pharmacy staff
Support strategic initiatives, quality improvement efforts, and patient-centered care delivery
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited school of pharmacy required
MBA preferred
Minimum of 3 years of relevant pharmacy practice experience required
Minimum of 1 year of direct staff supervision experience required
Hospital experience preferred for inpatient positions
Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the applicable state of practice
Board of Pharmacy Specialties certification preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, communication, analytical, and organizational skills, along with a strong understanding of pharmacy law, pharmaceutical care, regulatory requirements, and contemporary pharmacy practice. This role requires the ability to manage multiple priorities, lead teams effectively, evaluate complex situations, and support high-quality patient outcomes.
