Job Description
The Sustainability Specialist plays a key role in implementing sustainability and LEED certification requirements on active construction sites.
This position is responsible for translating LEED and sustainability requirements into practical, site‑based execution while maintaining Fluor’s core commitments to safety, quality, cost, and schedule. The role works closely with Project Management, Construction, HSE, Engineering, Clients, and Subcontractors to ensure sustainability objectives are fully integrated into daily construction activities.
This position is contingent upon project award and primarily site‑based.
Key responsibilities:
Act as the site LEED and sustainability focal point
Implement and maintain the project Sustainability and LEED Plan
Translate LEED requirements into clear, site‑executable actions
Coordinate with Construction, HSE, Engineering, and Subcontractors to ensure compliance
Monitor and verify compliance with applicable LEED credits during construction
Support subcontractors with LEED execution and documentation requirements
Review and validate sustainability and LEED documentation prior to submission
Track progress, identify risks, and support corrective actions related to certification
Participate in sustainability site walks, audits, and reviews
Promote sustainability awareness while ensuring compliance with Fluor HSE and Quality standards
Job Requirements
LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP), BD+C preferred
Accredited four‑year degree or global equivalent in:– Engineering– Construction Management– Environmental Science– Sustainability– Or a related discipline
Minimum 5–8 years of experience in the construction industry, preferably on large or complex projects
Demonstrated experience supporting LEED‑certified projects during construction
Working knowledge of construction sequencing, subcontractor coordination, and field execution
Ability to review, interpret, and assess technical, environmental, and sustainability documentation
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with LEED documentation tools (e.g., Green Badger) preferred
Ability to work independently in a site environment while coordinating with multiple stakeholders
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Working Conditions
Primary assignment on an active construction site
Exposure to outdoor conditions, varying weather, noise, dust, and construction activities
Combination of site walks, inspections, and office‑based documentation tasks
Travel may be required for project or business‑related meetings
