TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION E283 Transportation Engineer I, II, III, or IV- Hondo in HONDO, Texas
Performs highly advanced and complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations and maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.Essential Duties:Transportation Engineer IAssists in overseeing construction project traffic control plans; periodically reviews traffic control devices with Area Engineers.Assists in overseeing contracts, issuing work orders and monitoring construction schedules and contractor payments and job progress on construction projects.Assists in reviewing shop drawings prepared by fabricators for bridges and related structures.Conducts pre-construction meetings and public hearings.Transportation Engineer IIIn addition to the duties listed aboveAssists Area Engineers with construction contract administration matters.Analyzes and assists in the resolution of contract problems and disputes.Resolves differences between contractors and inspectors Transportation Engineer IIIIn addition to the duties listed aboveDrives/travels to project/work locations to make on-site engineering reviews, analyses, tests and to provide technical support.Monitors consultants' progress and work quality; checks invoices and associated documents; prepares supplemental agreements. Transportation Engineer IVIn addition to the duties listed aboveConducts final inspections on completed construction projects.Coordinates and monitors consultant contracts related projects.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned
