Job Summary: The City of Holbrook is seeking an experienced and dedicated Public Pool Manager to oversee the daily operations of our public swimming pool. The ideal candidate will ensure the safety and satisfaction of all pool patrons, manage pool staff, and maintain the cleanliness and functionality of the pool facilities.
The following duties are examples of the essential types of work performed by positions within this job classification. Management reserves the right to add, modify, change, or rescind work assignments as needed. The goal of the Public Pool Manager is to keep the City Public Pool running smoothly while ensuring the customers are well taken care of. Specific duties and responsibilities include:
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise Pool Operations: Oversee the daily operations of the public pool, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all users.
- Staff Management: Supervise and train lifeguards. Create and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage during all operating hours and events.
- Safety Enforcement: Enforce pool rules and regulations to ensure the safety of all patrons. Administer first aid and perform water rescues when necessary.
- Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of the pool, pool area, and related facilities. Ensure proper chemical balance and cleanliness of the pool.
- Budget Management: Manage the pools budget, including expenditure for supplies, equipment, and staff salaries.
- Event Coordination: Plan and coordinate pool events, such as swimming lessons, open swims, and community activities.
- Customer Service: Handle customer complaints and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local and national health and safety regulations.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of pool usage, chemical levels, maintenance activities, and any incidents or accidents.
- Supply Management: Order necessary pool concession supplies and equipment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in recreation management or a related field is a plus.
- Previous experience in pool management or a similar role.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of pool maintenance and safety protocols.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Certifications:
- Current or ability to obtain lifeguard certification, First Aid, and CPR certifications (e.g., from the American Red Cross or equivalent).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and supplies.
- Ability to swim and perform water rescues.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in various weather conditions.
