Overview
We’re looking for a Project Accountant to join our Finance & Accounting Consulting FTEP team. This role is ideal for accounting professionals who thrive in dynamic environments, enjoy working across multiple projects, and want exposure to diverse industries and leadership teams. You’ll support key client initiatives, strengthen project financial visibility, and drive cleaner, faster, more accurate reporting.

What You’ll Do (Across Client Engagements)
· Own core project accounting cycles including budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and revenue recognition.
· Support project managers with real-time financial insights, variance analysis, and cost‑to‑complete reporting.
· Prepare monthly project P& Ls, WIP analysis, and job cost summaries.
· Review contracts, change orders, billing schedules, and documentation for accuracy and compliance.
· Prepare and process client invoicing (T& M, fixed fee, POC, milestone-based).
· Lead project-related month-end close: accruals, JE prep, reconciliations.
· Track labor, materials, subcontractor charges, overhead, and capitalized costs.
· Maintain strong controls and ensure financial data integrity across client systems.
· Partner with cross‑functional teams to improve project workflows and reporting efficiency.
· Provide support during project audits, budget refresh cycles, or system transitions.

What is the FTEP Program? Our permanent Engagement Professionals are not contract employees. You join Robert Half as a permanent direct employee and work as a consultant for clients in our accounting division.
Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
2–7+ years of project accounting, cost accounting, or job-costing experience.
Strong understanding of GAAP and revenue recognition.
Experience with project accounting ERPs (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Deltek, Viewpoint, JD Edwards, etc.).
Advanced Excel skills (XLOOKUP, pivot tables, modeling).
Ability to adapt quickly, learn new systems, and build trust with client teams.
Preferred Experience
Background in construction, engineering, manufacturing, or detail oriented services.
Experience supporting multi-entity, multi-location project structures.
Familiarity with POC, cost‑plus, or milestone billing.
CPA/CMA or progress toward certification a plus.
The salary range for this position is $24.50 to $37.50. Benefits available to contract/contract professionals, include medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance.
