TEKsystems Production Print Technician in Hillsboro, Oregon
About the Role
This role sits at the intersection of creative production and hands-on manufacturing. As a Production Print Technician, you’ll prepare artwork files for our state-of-the-art direct-to-substrate printing equipment—translating bat graphics from design concept to finished product on baseball and softball bats.
We’re looking for someone who can hold two things in tension:
The discipline to execute flawlessly in a high-volume production environment
The curiosity to experiment with what our printing technology can do
You’ll troubleshoot production issues, maintain rigorous file standards, and ensure smooth factory execution—but you’ll also push the printer’s capabilities, discover happy accidents, and bring those learnings back to inform future designs. If you geek out over both process optimization and creative exploration, this role was made for you.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduction & Execution
Prepare production-ready artwork files for direct-to-substrate printing on baseball and softball bats
Ensure color accuracy, registration, and file specifications meet equipment and manufacturing requirements
Create, revise, and distribute graphic production files to manufacturing teams
Perform thorough quality control checks on artwork prior to print runs—catching issues before they reach production
Adapt artwork for various bat models, sizes, and product lines across multiple brands
Manage and maintain digital asset libraries with clear file structures and version control
Experimentation & Discovery
Explore and push the capabilities of direct-print technology by testing new techniques, effects, and approaches
Document successful experiments and translate findings into actionable insights for the design team
Collaborate closely with print operators and manufacturing partners to understand equipment constraints and opportunities
Bring a curious, hands-on mindset to production—finding the “happy accidents” that elevate inline designs
Collaboration & Communication
Work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
Review projects with the Art Director as needed to ensure on-brand, high-quality outcomes
Partner with designers, product managers, and cross-functional teams to meet product release schedules and factory timelines
Clearly communicate production constraints and creative opportunities back to the design team to influence future work
Required Education & Experience
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Print Production, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience
2+ years of experience in print production, prepress, or production art - must have experience using a Digital Printer
Hands-on experience preparing files for production output (preflighting, packaging, file optimization)
Strong understanding of color management, color separations, and print specifications
Qualifications, Skills & Competencies
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and related design tools
Working knowledge of manufacturing techniques used to decorate or embellish consumer products
Experience with direct-to-substrate or cylindrical printing (e.g., bottles, cans, tubes) is a strong plus
Genuine curiosity about printing technology and product finishing processes
Exceptional attention to detail with strong organization and project management skills
Proven ability to work under pressure, prioritize effectively, and meet multiple deadlines in a factory environment
Strong communication skills and comfort collaborating with design, manufacturing, and print operations teams
Comfort working in or alongside a manufacturing/factory setting
Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Why You’ll Love This Role
You’ll see your work go directly from file to finished product
