ITW Assembly & Test Technician (Transducer Products) in High Wycombe, United Kingdom

Job Description:

Instron® is a global organization that designs, manufactures, sells, and services materials testing systems. We are looking for an Assembly and Test Technician to join our Transducer Production team. This area is responsible for the assembly and test of our range of load cells and extensometers requiring highly precise and close attention to detail for our quality standards. There are also training opportunities to expand skill sets across several processes within this team for continued professional development in role. This role is based at our European headquarters in High Wycombe, UK.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assembly and test of Transducers as directed by the Team leader (Transducers) - using the latest relevant assembly processes and drawings, Test Specification Procedure (TSP) and calibrated test equipment.

  • Correct assembly and testing of associated test load string and test fixtures and jigs.

  • Fault diagnosis of units under test.

  • Inspection and Packing of Customer Orders in accordance with current procedures.

  • Timely use of the appropriate fault reporting procedures, i.e. NCR’s, ESR’s, MSW’s and other quality tools using Agile.

  • Maintain a safe working environment in all work areas, with focus on safe working practices including housekeeping and use of PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) i.e. safety glasses, safety shoes and appropriate ESD precautions (anti-static clothing, wrist straps, etc)

  • Maintain awareness, understanding and use of the department or process Risk Assessments, Safety Notice Boards and COSHH regulations and abide by them. Also to be able to recognise hazards and have the ability to take appropriate action in a controlled and safe way.

  • Safe use of regularly maintained material handling equipment i.e. overhead cranes, slings, eye bolts and pallet trucks. Appropriate training must be completed and/or authorisation confirmed before use of the equipment commences.

  • Use of electronic systems to complete administrative procedures e.g. AGILE (for assembly drawings, quality reporting procedures) and IFS (for the management of product flow, investigating and correcting stock inaccuracies and cycle counting.)

  • Contribute towards the Company's efforts to reduce costs and improve quality.

  • Understanding Customer and Shop Orders.

  • Accept responsibility for quality of own work.

Qualifications and Experience

  • The candidate should be able to prove experience with assembly and disassembly of electro-mechanical components and / or fine wiring / soldering skills.

  • The candidate should be able to prove experience with the use of basic test equipment from the above industries including fault diagnosis to module level and initiatives for product improvement.

  • GSCEs or equivalent level in Mathematics, English and Science (combined or Physics) or Technology based subjects (e.g Design & Technology, Metalwork etc), preferred.

  • BTEC Level 2 or higher in Engineering, desirable but not essential
