This position is in Cargill’s protein and salt business, where we provide wholesome, high-quality food products to a wide range of customers, from foodservice operators and grocery stores to manufacturers and exporters.

Job Purpose and Impact

The Associate Engineer will support senior professionals in implementing maintenance programs to optimize the productivity of manufacturing facilities and equipment. We seek a results-oriented professional who will contribute to planning and coordinating maintenance, including reviewing mechanical and electrical engineering specifications.

Key Accountabilities

  • Contribute to a minor phase of a larger projects or test new products.

  • Participate in installing and commissioning new equipment.

  • Help coordinate repair work, statutory safety inspections and supply of new plant and equipment with production schedules.

  • Review proposed new equipment designs to assess reliability, ease of maintenance and availability of replacement parts.

  • Handle basic issues and problems under direct supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Required

Bachelor of Science degree in chemical, electrical, mechanical, mining, or other engineering field.

Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada

Proven ability to work effectively with individuals from a diverse group of backgrounds

Willing and able to relocate

Ability to contribute, both as part of a team and individually

Strong communication skills – written and oral

Preferred

Previous experience in Reliability Maintenance or Project Management

Ability to relate technical knowledge to job-related duties

Demonstrated ability to solve problems and make decisions independently

Demonstrated leadership skills and experience
