Job Title: 2nd Shift Quality Control Inspector

Reports to: Manager, Quality

Department: Engineering

Work Model: Full-time, On-site - No Travel Required

Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 3:00 PM - 1:00 AM

Job Summary

This position will perform key quality management system activities associate with product inspections, including receipt inspection, in process inspection, component inspection (e.g., wire harness), and final inspection. The role includes supporting the nonconforming material process and the Material Review Board (MRB). Additionally, the inspector will promote awareness of quality standards in the areas they support.

Essential Functions

  • Inspect and test incoming shipments for damages or defects according to industry standards and vendor/supplier defined expectations. Work with multiple departments during the inspection process and assist with coordinating repairs or returns with suppliers

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions to verify the correct part is received

  • Document and respond to formal Preventive and Corrective Actions when a process or product is found to be non-conforming. Monitor and assist Quality with defective part segregation and storage until the part can be returned to supplier

  • Communicate and provide feedback to suppliers regarding defects and working to resolve with RMAs. Communicate with the Crystal team to provide status updates on parts, defects found and next steps to resolve to maintain production timelines

  • Assist with scrap, repair and rework diagnosis and next steps

  • Review and monitor issues recorded and corrective actions in Issue Tracker. Escalate issues to Quality when appropriate

  • Support Supplier FAI process by reviewing Supplier FAI documentation for accuracy against the drawing

  • Maintain department database, prepare routine reports, and file shipping/receiving records. Assist Quality with supplier database, assessments/records etc.

  • Identify and act upon continuous improvement activities within the department

  • Inspect and test final products for damages or defects according to drawing requirements, procedures, and industry standards

  • Inspect and test wire harness and subassemblies for damages or defects according to drawing requirements, procedures, and industry standards

  • Promote safety awareness and ensures compliance of safety practices within department including ESD and ISO procedures

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Familiarity with AS9100D, ISO9001:2008, AS9102, and SPC a plus

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office tools including Outlook, Word, Excel, and web applications

  • Must be able to use scope, calipers, multimeter, and various test equipment

  • Take, edit, and catalog photos

  • Basic computer skills, including learning ERP software program

  • Certify and maintain certification for IPC-610, IPC-620, J-STD

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a US Person (US Citizen, person granted US Permanent Resident Card or any individual who is granted status as a "protected person")

  • Associates degree or 5 years' experience in a quality inspection role in lieu of degree

Preferred Qualifications

Working Conditions

Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Occasional exposure to manufacturing floor and testing environments. May require lifting to 40 lbs, standing for extended periods during product testing, and occasional travel (up to 10%).
