Amazon Software Development Manager, Amazon Security: ASCOT Engineering in Herndon, Virginia
Description
As a Software Development Manager (SDM) at Amazon Security, you will build and lead a team of software development engineers delivering security services that help our largest customers adopt AWS technologies quickly and operate them with confidence.
Your team will design and build proactive security solutions at scale, working across AWS services and internal teams to reduce risk, accelerate secure adoption, and protect customers who have the highest security bar. You will own the technical direction, delivery, and operational health of these services from inception through production.
Key job responsibilities

Hire, develop, and manage a team of software engineers focused on building security services for AWS customers
Define and drive the technical roadmap for the team
Partner with AWS service teams, security organizations, and field teams to build solutions that scale
Set a high bar for engineering quality, operational excellence, and customer outcomes
Translate ambiguous customer and business problems into clear engineering plans with measurable results

Basic Qualifications
5+ years of software development experience
2+ years of software development manager, managing teams of more than 5 software engineers experience
Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of building production software experience
Experience leading agile development teams and scrum spring planning

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
