Job Overview
The Staff Reliability & Testing Engineer is a senior technical contributor ,8+ years of Experience in all aspects of reliability engineering for automotive electronic or mechatronics products from reliability estimation to reliability calculation and risk identification across the full product development lifecycle. This role requires deep expertise in reliability modeling, reliability testing, reliability calculating and failure analysis, as well as the ability to translate product characteristics and customer expectations into robust reliability strategies and validation plans.
Job Requirements
1. Deep Reliability Engineering Expertise
Minimum 8+ years of hands‑on experience in reliability engineering, covering:
Reliability modeling and prediction
Reliability strategy and planning
Accelerated and destructive reliability testing
Reliability failure analysis and corrective action
Reliability calculations such as FIT, MTTF, MTBF
Statistical analysis (e.g., Weibull analysis, chi‑square methods, basic Bayesian concepts)
Strong ability to connect test data, field data, and engineering judgment to drive data‑based reliability decisions.
2. Reliability Strategy & Test Plan Ownership
Independently define and lead end‑to‑end reliability strategies aligned with:
Product architecture, materials, and operating environments
Customer Reliability Requirements and mission profiles
Industry standards and best practices
Create and own reliability test plans (e.g., HALT, HAST, ALT, Test‑to‑Failure) that balance technical risk, development timelines, cost, and business impact.
3. New Product Development (NPI) Lifecycle Knowledge
Strong understanding of structured new product development processes .
Ability to tailor reliability activities to each development phase, including:
Concept and feasibility
Design verification
Product validation
Release to manufacturing
Define appropriate test coverage, sample size, duration, and success criteria at each stage.
4. Cross‑Functional & Customer Engagement
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Effectively partner with customers to align on reliability expectations, test strategies, and risk assessments.
Influence and collaborate with cross‑functional teams including:
R&D / Design Engineering
Manufacturing & Process Engineering
Quality & Supplier Quality
Product/Project Management
Clearly communicate reliability risks, trade‑offs, test results, and recommendations to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
What your background should look like
Bachelor/ Master’s degree in technical discipline (Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics)
5+ years of Experience in all aspects of reliability engineering for automotive electronic or mechatronics products from reliability estimation to reliability calculation and risk identification
Knowledge on FIT estimation methodology, statistical analysis for reliability calculation such as Weibull-analysis or c2-statistics, application of Bayes theorem, random failure principle, FMEDA, FTA
Reliability Engineering training from ASQ, TUV, Reliasoft or equivalent
Experience with customer interactions and in defining reliability strategy based on customer needs.
Experience in running statistical analysis for reliability calculation for mechatronic products.
A high curiosity in understanding how systems/product works along with a reverse engineering mindset.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with anagement, stakeholders, cross functional teams (engineering, product management, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, finance, sales) and subject matter experts.
Analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions when presented with challenges, conflicts and constraints.
Willingness to travel as required, 20%
