Conagra Brands Engineering & Maintenance Manager in Henning, Illinois

Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will lead the development and execution of plant technical strategies across engineering, maintenance, and capital programs to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations. You will manage the plant technical organization, oversee capital and expense budgets, and partner with Corporate Engineering to deliver capital projects while advancing low‑loss production systems and early management initiatives.

A Taste of Your Responsibilities

  • Establish associate safety as the plant’s top priority across all technical activities.

  • Lead cross‑functional development and execution of the plant capital plan in partnership with Safety, Sanitation, Quality, Environmental, Operations, Maintenance, Finance, and Corporate Engineering.

  • Develop and deploy plant‑specific engineering and maintenance strategies aligned to key performance objectives.

  • Lead vertical start‑up processes to support implementation of low‑loss production systems.

  • Manage the plant technical expense budget and support delivery of the capital budget.

  • Partner with the Platform Engineering Director to resource projects, including engineering project managers, subject matter experts, and start‑up managers.

  • Support achievement of plant financial objectives through disciplined project execution and resource utilization.

  • Lead and support Early Management pillar activities, including development of short‑ and long‑term plans and goals.

  • Provide technical and project leadership support to the plant and division as needed.

  • Participate in and lead project teams focused on improving safety, quality, utilization, sanitation, cost performance, labor relations, and customer service.

  • Support internal systems audits and compliance activities as required.

  • Foster a team‑based problem‑solving culture aligned with Conagra Performance System principles.

  • Drive business literacy through education on key business concepts and performance drivers.

  • Lead effective team meetings and promote collaboration across Maintenance, Quality, Production, and Warehouse teams.

  • Provide work direction and coordinate mechanical and clerical activities within the maintenance organization.

  • Utilize standard computer applications to support planning, analysis, and communication.

  • Demonstrate sound judgment, executive maturity, and effective communication across all levels of the organization.

Ingredients Required for Your Success

  • Bachelor's of Engineering degree.

  • Seven years of related engineering and maintenance leadership experience.

  • Five years of experience in food manufacturing.

  • Prior training experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to influence and advise cross‑functional partners.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Willingness to rotate shifts and work weekends or holidays when required.

  • Demonstrated leadership competencies including integrity and trust, ethics and values, action orientation, conflict management, customer focus, decision quality, managing diversity, functional and technical expertise, managerial courage, priority setting, drive for results, talent assessment, team building, and vision leadership.

You may be required to walk around the facility, climb stairs/ladders, kneel, or perform repetitive tasks that require hand-eye coordination.

This is a manufacturing environment with large, moving equipment. Noise levels can be high, and temperatures may vary.

Compensation

Pay Range:$81,000-$118,000

The annual salary listed above is the expected offering for this position. An employee’s actual annual salary will be based on but not limited to: location, relevant experience/level and skillset, while balancing internal Conagra employees’ equity. Conagra Brands will comply with applicable law regarding minimum salaries for exempt employees.
