DuPont has an immediate opening for a Quality Control Lab Technician at our Healthcare Industries Materials Site located in Hemlock, MI.
The DuPont Healthcare Industries Materials Site produces products for use in the Biopharmaceutical, Pharmaceutical, Medical, and Cosmetic Industries. The site has been in continuous operation since 1964, dedicated to Healthcare products. Our products are distributed globally and are recognized as World Class for quality.
The Laboratory is staffed 12 hours per day, 365 days per year (excluding some holidays or other site shutdown events). The lab is staffed in a 2-3-2 non-rotating 12-hour shift schedule. The Lab Testers are on-call for in-process testing during the off-shift.
There are three major functional areas of the laboratory:
Microbiology (Bioassurance)
The lab is classified as a Bio Safety Level (BSL-2) Lab due to the use and presence of pathogenic microorganisms
Finished products are tested for the presence of biological contamination
Raw materials may be screened on an as needed or for cause basis
The site is routinely monitored for environmental characteristics
Bioburden is quantified and characterized
Quality Control Lab Physical and Chemical Testing
Primarily testing finished products to assure specifications are met prior to commercial release.
Troubleshooting process problems, or evaluating process improvements
Incoming Inspection
Inspection of incoming raw materials and chemical intermediates to assure quality before use in production.
Key essential duties include:
Testing raw materials and finished products using standard operating procedures. Testing includes use of complex and sensitive instrumentation and techniques including but not limited to:
Gas Chromatography, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy, Physical properties of polymer by Instron Tensometer, Centrifuge, pH. Assay by solvent extraction, Titration, Penetrometer, Mixers, Balances, Pipettes, Computers, Ovens, Incubators, Microscope, Air samplers, Particle Counters, Viscosity and Rheology
Use of Software Programs
Sample Manager LIMS Software, SAP Enterprise Software, Dupont/ADP, Microsoft Suite of applications, and Instrument specific software
Regulations and Industry Expections:
The HIMS site produces Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), Medical Devices, Excipients, and products that are used in implantable medical devices, medical, pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical fluid transfer.
Good Manufacturing Practices (Current GMP or cGMP)
21 CFR 210/211/820, ICH Qx, United States Pharmacopeia (USP), European Pharmacopeia (PhEur), Chinese Pharmacopeia (ChP), Japanese Pharmacopeia, ISO 9001 2015, and ISO 14001
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States; No visa sponsorship/support OR relocation assistance is available for this position.
The following are Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent
2 years’ experience in an industrial setting
The following are Preferred in addition to the above listed requirements:
2- 5 years’ laboratory experience
Experience with DuPont and/or Legacy systems: SAP, Sample Manager LIMS, and Microsoft Office applications
Associates/College level courses in sciences and math
The following are Strongly Preferred in addition to the above listed qualifications:
Bachelors degree in the following discipline(s): Science, Engineering, or Computer Science
5 years’ experience or more, directly relevant lab experience
Experience in Healthcare Industries
