Masonic Home Licensed Practical Nurse in Helena, Montana

Job Summary: Under general supervision of Resident Service Coordinator, provides nursing services to Residents and does related work as required and other duties as scheduled. Must have current LPN license for Montana with the ability to apply the principles and practices of practical nursing, including detection and reporting change in the condition of Residents, preparing records and report, follow oral and written instructions, perform physically demanding duties in caring for Residents, knowledge of clinic equipment and supply use, ability to render first aid, CPR and obtain a blood sample through the use of phlebotomy as needed. Must hold and maintain current CPR certification. Must hold the ability to correctly use and interpret medical terminology. Must possess the ability to function as a leader and direct other clinic staff in their job duties two (2) years of experience as a LPN and six (6) months continuous employment with the Masonic Home. Functions to assure the highest quality of Resident care is delivered to the Residents. Essential Functions 1. The LPN position at the Masonic Home is responsible for providing oversight of all facets of Resident care during their shift. This includes providing work assignments and directives to the other clinic staff when working as a Charge Nurse. The Charge nurse is responsible for making assignments to CNA's and NA's, assuring that the assignments are carried out during their shift, and reporting any inconsistencies or difficulties with staff to the Resident Service Coordinator, or the Administrator. 2. Maintains the highest quality of resident care through hands-on/verbal interaction with the resident, as well as the administration of medications as ordered by the M.D., and other aspects of the care plan. 3. Asce1iains the condition of the resident and determines the need for medical, nursing, or other intervention as needed per protocol. 4. Facilitates the care of the Residents through the various channels of Social Service, medical visits and other areas as needed. Takes an active role in case planning and activities of the Residents through participation in programs, meetings, and job duties. 5. Follows written and oral directions. Documents all aspects of resident care in a clear concise, legible, timely manner. 6. Responds to emergencies within the facility as directed by protocol. Participates in fire drills or any other emergency drill. Responds to staffing emergency calls for help. 7. Reports any and all accidents, incidents, unsafe/hazardous equipment, and/or conditions immediately. Follows established safety guidelines. Maintains the work area in a clean, safe, orderly manner. 8. Maintains the confidentiality of Residents and their care at all times to protect their rights. 9. Accurately takes and records blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respirations. Record food intake on "at risk" Residents. Assess the results of these readings accurately. 10. Changes dressings as ordered. Performs treatments as ordered. 11. Administers medications via various routes, including oral, parenteral, topical, or rectal. May administer enemas, irrigations, douches, lotion rubs, massages, and first aid as required by situation or schedule. Monitors 02 levels, using pulse oximetry. 12. Trains or provides oversight and documents training ofNA's & CNA's and oversees the work duties of non-professional personnel, including CNA's and NA's in providing care to Residents. Delegates as license allows and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of any resident care. 13. Assists in the care plan process as requested. Provides assessments and summaries of resident's ability to tolerate care plan activities. Charts resident progress according to protocol, in a neat, legible, timely manner, making corrections in the legally accepted manner. 14. Duties may include taking telephone orders and prompt, professional, timely actions to carry out those orders.
