JOB SUMMARY (overview of job):
The IT Asset Process Manager is responsible for the end-to-end management of the organization’s IT assets, ensuring accurate tracking, cost optimization, compliance, and strategic lifecycle planning. This role oversees IT procurement, inventory, financial management (OpEx and CapEx), and vendor coordination to maximize the value and efficiency of IT technology investments.
Key Responsibilities
IT Asset Lifecycle Management
• Own and manage the full lifecycle of all IT assets, including hardware, software, cloud subscriptions, and related technology.
• Maintain accurate asset inventories from acquisition through deployment, maintenance, refresh, and disposal.
• Develop and execute asset refresh and lifecycle planning strategies aligned with business and technology roadmaps.
Procurement & Purchasing
• Lead purchasing of IT technology in partnership with IT leadership, and align processes with Finance, Contracting, and Supply Chain.
• Assist with managing vendor relationships, pricing negotiations, contracts, and renewals.
• Ensure purchases align with standards, budgets, and approved architectures.
Financial Management (OpEx & CapEx)
• Track and manage IT operational and capital expenditures related to technology assets.
• Coordinate invoicing, cost allocation, and chargebacks as applicable, with key IT Leaders and other stakeholders.
• Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for IT assets.
• Ensure accurate capitalization, depreciation, and financial reporting of IT assets in collaboration with Finance.
Compliance & Optimization
• Establish and maintain IT asset management policies, standards, and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with licensing, contractual obligations, and internal controls.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings, asset reuse, consolidation, and optimization.
Reporting & Stakeholder Collaboration
• Produce regular reports and dashboards on asset inventory, lifecycle status, spend, and utilization.
• Serve as a key liaison between IT, Finance, Procurement, and business stakeholders.
• Support audits and respond to asset-related inquiries.
Qualifications
Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3–5+ years of experience in business, accounting, and financial management.
• Strong understanding of IT asset lifecycle management and purchasing processes.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred
• Experience with IT asset management (ITAM) or service management tools.
• Knowledge of software licensing and vendor contract management.
• Familiarity with accounting principles related to capitalization and depreciation.
• ITAM, ITIL, or related certifications.
