About the Role
As an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist, you will develop, implement, and manage programs to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations. You will monitor workplace practices, evaluate potential hazards, and work with internal teams and regulatory agencies to maintain a safe and compliant work environment. This role also provides opportunities to guide colleagues and support cross-functional projects while driving continuous improvement in EHS practices.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, administer, and implement environmental, health, and safety programs in accordance with governmental requirements.
Monitor pollution prevention, compliance, and auditing efforts (depending on location).
Conduct studies and prepare environmental impact reports for new construction, plant processes, and permit changes.
Review and analyze regulatory documentation; collaborate with agencies to determine corrective action plans.
Evaluate proposed regulations for financial, industrial, public, and environmental impact.
Interact with regulatory bodies to resolve compliance issues, establish permit requirements, and support audits.
Represent the company in government and industry rule-making activities.
Identify and take corrective action against hazards that may threaten employee health or safety, including workplace inspections and incident investigations.
Provide employee training and promote awareness on environmental, health, and safety matters.
Candidate Profile
Established individual contributor with practical knowledge and demonstrated competence in environmental, health, and safety practices.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and compliance skills.
Effective communicator with internal and occasional external stakeholders.
Ability to provide guidance and mentorship to junior or support-level professionals.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience OR advanced degree with no required prior experience.
Practical experience in EHS programs, regulatory compliance, and workplace safety practices.
Ability to work independently under general supervision on moderately complex projects.
