Controls Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a Controls Engineer to join our Client's dynamic team. This role requires a seasoned professional with strong experience in electrical design, programming, and engineering, particularly within the special machine industry. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership, enhance departmental programming expertise, and deliver high-quality solutions to meet our customers' needs.
Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership and expertise to the controls team, guiding them to meet project objectives.
Develop, install, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, motion control, robot, and vision software solutions in line with design standards and customer requirements.
Collaborate with Project Managers and Design teams to understand machine functions and develop appropriate software solutions.
Identify and provide reliable solutions for technical issues to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of departmental processes and stay current with advancements in controls engineering and automation technology.
Serve as a technical subject matter expert and offer guidance and training to the team.
Support design decisions, answer project questions, and ensure controls software systems support the overall process.
Participate in design reviews to understand software requirements and offer design guidance.
Assist with the training of new employees within the software department.
Support Applications Engineers during the quoting process and the service department by assisting customers remotely or on-site.
Collaborate with the Software Manager to document or create standard work practices and methods for the controls team.
Travel approximately 25% of the time, including overnight travel, potentially domestic and international.
Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design, programming, and engineering, with preference for special machine industry experience.
Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience.
Proficiency in PLC, HMI, robot, motion control, LabVIEW, and machine vision software applications.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and a detail-oriented approach.
Ability to troubleshoot and debug complex automation systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with ignition software for data communication and database interfacing.
Understanding of data communication network systems and protocols, including ethernet.
Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
Flexibility to manage multiple projects of varying scope and complexity.
Creativity and flexibility to find innovative solutions.
Work Environment
This is a fully on-site position at the Hebron, KY site, with flexible work-from-home options on a need basis. The role offers the opportunity to take on a leadership position with a global leader in factory automation, requiring approximately 25% yearly domestic travel.

This is a Permanent position based out of Hebron, KY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
