Job Title: Assembly Operator

Job Description

The Assembly Operator works as part of a collaborative production team to build high-quality electronic hardware, including PCB circuit boards, cameras, flex assemblies, and other sensitive electrical systems. This role uses gauges, calipers, soldering irons, and specialized fixtures to assemble and test products with exceptional precision and cleanliness. The position also involves working with software and uploading applications to smartphones that function as controllers for viewing and operation.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble small, complex mechanical and electromechanical components with a high level of precision and consistency.

  • Build PCB boards, circuit boards, cameras, flexes, and other sensitive electrical systems while maintaining strict cleanliness standards to prevent dust or particle contamination.

  • Use gauges, calipers, soldering irons, and other hand tools to perform detailed assembly tasks.

  • Follow assembly documentation, work instructions, and procedures accurately, and execute verbal and written instructions with consistency.

  • Perform soldering operations on electronic components, or learn and apply soldering skills as needed.

  • Execute tests using specialized fixtures and equipment to verify product functionality and quality.

  • Troubleshoot and rework electronics and complex mechanical assemblies when issues arise.

  • Operate precision measuring equipment to confirm that parts and assemblies meet required specifications.

  • Maintain clean, organized, and orderly workstations and production areas to support quality and safety standards.

  • Collaborate closely with technicians, engineers, and other team members to resolve issues and improve processes.

  • Communicate ideas, concerns, and problems clearly and professionally to technicians and engineers.

  • Support new product introduction (NPI) and production activities as needed.

  • Participate in mandatory overtime on weekdays and Saturdays when required to meet production goals.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in assembling small, complex mechanical components.

  • Experience building hardware products in an electronics manufacturing environment.

  • Experience in IT or manufacturing, particularly related to electronics.

  • Ability to follow detailed assembly documentation and written and verbal instructions accurately and consistently.

  • Experience working with circuit boards, cameras, flexes, or other sensitive electrical systems in a manufacturing setting.

  • Capability to execute tests using specialized fixtures and equipment.

  • Experience troubleshooting and reworking electronics or complex mechanical assemblies.

  • Ability to operate precision measuring equipment such as gauges and calipers.

  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Ability to maintain clean and orderly workstations and production areas.

  • Clear and effective communication skills to convey ideas and problems to technicians and engineers.

  • Trainable, coachable, and reliable work style, with openness to feedback.

  • Comfort with mandatory overtime on weekdays and Saturdays when needed.

  • Interest and passion for world-class drone manufacturing.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with soldering electronic components, or strong willingness to learn soldering techniques.

  • Hands-on experience with electronics manufacturing and assembly line work.

  • Previous experience as an assembly or production associate.

  • NPI (New Product Introduction) production experience.

  • Experience in assembly repair, testing, and troubleshooting of circuit boards and electromechanical assemblies.

  • Familiarity with circuit board and circuit assembly processes.

  • Experience using hand tools in a production or assembly environment.

  • Self-starter mindset with strong attention to detail.

Work Environment

The work environment centers on advanced drone and autonomous flight technology, combining artificial intelligence with best-in-class hardware and software product development. You will join a team dedicated to building a fleet of highly intelligent drones used by a wide range of users, from action sports enthusiasts to first responders and insurance professionals. The role is based in a collaborative production setting where detail-oriented, self-starting team members work closely together to achieve operational excellence. Day shift runs Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and swing shift runs Monday through Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with mandatory overtime on some weekdays and Saturdays when required. Work involves hands-on use of gauges, calipers, soldering irons, hand tools, precision measuring equipment, and specialized test fixtures, with an emphasis on maintaining clean, dust-free workstations to protect sensitive electronics. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hayward, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.50/hr.
