SUPERVISOR, QUALITY ASSURANCE (VALVES)
The Valves’ Quality Assurance team is looking for a Supervisor, Quality Assurance to lead a team of inspectors and CMM programmers. This role will involve the management of quality assurance inspectors in various areas of the department and across programs including Falcon, Dragon, and Starship.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead a staff of inspectors, programmers, and a specialist by scheduling and providing direction to ensure all partner teams are supported
Read, interpret, and work from drawings and controlled documentation/processes
Supervise completion of quality assurance activities using SpaceX processes and systems in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
Implement training and certifications, as needed, to maintain a highly skilled, flexible, and capable workforce
Oversee the critical characteristic control within the production process including the establishment of necessary equipment/layout requirements
Maintain tooling and consumable supply inventory
Monitor labor hours over time, and implement improvement plans and time management with staff
Work with production leaders to identify improvements, drive efficiencies, and develop interdepartmental relationships
Work with the engineering teams to prioritize and align on improvement projects
Identify/organize training programs and maintain training matrix to ensure cross-training maximizes resource availability
Mentor direct reports by performing frequent one-on-one counseling, providing constructive feedback, and handling disciplinary actions as necessary
Assess and vet the appropriate skillset needed to perform job requirements
Support recruiting efforts by performing phone interviews and on-site evaluations of inspector candidates
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing, production, or testing environment
1+ years of experience leading a team or project
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Experience communicating across all levels of the organization, team-building, and driving influence
Experience with applying lean manufacturing principles and efficiency methods
Expertise with computers and analytics including proficiency in spreadsheets, databases, shop floor management software (ERP/MRP), SQL, and related technical programs
2+ years of experience in management/supervision
Experience reading/interpret schematics
Practical experience with Quality Management Systems standards (AS9100 and ISO 9001) and Lean Manufacturing
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends when needed
Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. unassisted
Must be able to travel – up to 10%
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Supervisor, Quality Assurance: $105,000.00 - $135,000.00/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
