City of Havelock Senior Center Meal Service Coordinator (Part-time) in Havelock, North Carolina

General Statement of Duties Performs senior meals program coordination and other recreation services at the Havelock Senior Center

Distinguishing Features of the Class Employees in this class are responsible for the coordination and operation of the senior congregate meals program. Individual will work with and coordinate volunteers in service delivery. Work to include administrative duties of monitoring meal delivery and compliance with multiple regulations that accompany such service. Responsible for kitchen prep, ordering and monitor of food and kitchen cleanup. Position will encourage and promote senior involvement in other recreation activities. Work is performed under the supervision of the Senior Center Coordinator and is evaluated by review of records and reports, in conferences and by an appraisal of the general effectiveness of senior meals programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Completes all reports and daily documents for the senior meals program.
  • Supervise meal service program and ensure all meals are delivered at proper temperature and proper portion.
  • Clean, sanitize and store all food service equipment and perform all janitorial duties in kitchen and dining areas.
  • Comply with all safety and food service delivery laws and regulations.
  • Perform all administrative duties related to senior meal service program.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of operation of senior center facility and support of its programs and activities.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate a senior meals program.
  • Ability to recruit, retain and supervise volunteers within a program operation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written format.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with volunteers, other employees and the public.
  • Ability to clean and maintain the senior center facility.
  • Working knowledge of Excel and Word computer operation.

Education and Experience Graduation from high school with some experience in dealing with and working with the public; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirement

  • Possession of valid North Carolina drivers license
  • Ability to take and pass ServSafe course after employment

Physical Requirements Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform medium work of exerting up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift objects. Must possess the visual acuity to monitor and provide oversight to senior meals activities and determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
