The U.S. Consumer Services Team is responsible for our suite of consumer products, services, and experiences in the U.S., including our premium, cobrand, cash back, and lending portfolios, Membership Rewards, Global Travel & Lifestyle Services, the Centurion Lounge network, our Global Dining and Resy businesses, U.S. Consumer Banking, and best-in-class marketing programs across customer, prospect, and partner channels. The objective of the USCS Control Management Testing & Monitoring team within the BU’s Risk ID, Assessment, Testing and Reporting pillar is to identify, assess, mitigate, and report on Operational Risk within BU processes for USCS to ensure adherence to regulatory standards, Amex policy and enhance the BU's resilience through managing a clear methodology of inherent and residual risk.

We are seeking a Sr. Analyst who brings a balanced blend of control testing expertise, risk advisory capability, and data-driven thinking. This role goes beyond execution of testing programs — it plays a key part in strengthening control strategy, enhancing risk transparency, and supporting business resilience in a rapidly evolving digital environment, with an exposure to applications and processes used by Enterprise Communication and MarTech Experience (ECMX)
Support control monitoring (supplemental to BU process owners testing) and compile key operational risk trends, activities, and events
Lead and challenge risk assessments (RCSA/PRSA), ensuring robust identification of operational, technology, and data-related risks.
Support risk management practices and application controls with ECMX business. (Exposure with Project Flywheel preferred)
Evaluate and enhance control design and effectiveness, identifying opportunities for optimization and automation
Prioritize and execute High Risk areas within Guardian plan e.g., RCSAs and Governance.
Contribute to strengthening data risk management practices in evolving tech-enabled environments
Provide risk advisory support during new initiatives, process changes, and control enhancements
Proactively help identify certain areas of high-risk for intervention (e.g. automated alerts generated for high-risk areas signal need for intervention and focus), including conducting independent quality assurance and vertical process testing
Support governance reporting and present key risk insights to stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications
3-5 Years experience in operational risk management (e.g., within Risk and/or Internal Audit function) Understanding of critical operational risk management lifecycle activities
Experience in PRSA/RCSA, with an understanding of processes that align with policies, regulatory frameworks, and/or operational standards
Exposure to risk and data analytics tools (Excel advanced, Archer, Tableau, Power BI).
Project management, communication, and interpersonal skills
Analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios effectively
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Risk Mgmt., or related field; advanced degrees (e.g., MBA, MSc) or certifications are advantageous
Experience in risk assessments, control testing processes and issue management.
Experience in at least one of the following:
Supporting identification of compliance, operational risks throughout business processes and systems
Facilitating risk assessment performance in addition to further assessments and testing programs to ensure regulatory and internal standards are met
Supporting independent control monitoring, including identification of control improvements
Supporting the identification of areas of risk for intervention, including conducting independent quality assurance and process testing
Compiling thematic risk reporting to provide actionable insights on risk levels, emerging trends and root causes
