Job Overview: A Brake Press Operator sets up, operates, and maintains brake press machines to bend, shape, and form metal sheets according to specifications. Responsibilities include reading blueprints, selecting proper tooling, adjusting machine settings, and ensuring precision and quality control. The operator must follow safety procedures, inspect finished parts, and make necessary adjustments to maintain accuracy. Ideal candidates should have experience with metal fabrication, machine operation, and a keen eye for detail. Key Responsibilities: Operate and set up brake presses Ensure compliance with company safety and quality standards Unload and package finished parts Measure completed workpieces to verify conformance to specifications, using micrometers, gauges, and calipers Read work orders or production schedules to determine specifications, such as materials to be used, locations of cutting lines, or dimensions and tolerances Other duties as assigned Position guides, stops, holding blocks, or other fixtures to secure and direct workpieces, using hand tools and measuring devices. Examine completed workpieces for defects, such as chipped edges or marred surfaces and sort defective pieces according to types of flaws. Measure completed workpieces to verify conformance to specifications, using micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates, or rulers. Set stops on machine beds, change dies, and adjust components, such as rams or power presses, when making multiple or successive passes. Start machines, monitor their operations, and record operational data. Set up, operate, or tend machines to saw, cut, shear, slit, punch, crimp, notch, bend, or straighten metal or plastic material. Install, align, and lock specified punches, dies, cutting blades, or other fixtures in rams or beds of machines, using gauges, templates, feelers, shims, and hand tools. Read work orders or production schedules to determine specifications, such as materials to be used, locations of cutting lines, or dimensions and tolerances. Position, align, and secure workpieces against fixtures or stops on machine beds or on dies. Load workpieces, plastic material, or chemical solutions into machines. Clean work area. Turn controls to set cutting speeds, feed rates, or table angles for specified operations. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Good communication skills, multi-tasking skills and careful attention to detail. Understanding of the basics of brake press tools and equipment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and job packets. Proficient in the use of tape measures, protractors, calipers, and other measuring tools necessary to perform job.
