Overview
The Work
The Senior Managing Director, Data Science and AI will serve as Cayuse's senior authority on data and AI strategy, collaborating across service lines. The role involves business development, client advisory services, workforce development, AI service line development, and external representation — all with the shared goal of establishing data and AI as a strong, cross-cutting capability.
This position performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Cayuse.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Business Development and RFP Support
Lead and advise on data science and AI content for federal, state, and local government and commercial RFP responses, offering technical expertise and strategic framing that set Cayuse proposals apart in competitive procurements.
Identify data and AI opportunities in ongoing activities and RFP responses across service lines.
Review and strengthen civil services and commercial RFP responses for data and AI relevance, identifying opportunities where Cayuse's workforce model and mission create competitive differentiation.
Work closely with Cayuse’s Proposal Center of Excellence to create reusable proposal frameworks, capability narratives, and case study content that reduce response effort and improve consistency across bids.
Perform a leadership role in the Atlanta commercial and State government markets, identifying opportunities and working with Commercial and Civil BU’s to capture market share.
Advisory and Workforce Development
Serve in an advisory role to Cayuse's Business Unit Executives and BU senior leadership regarding data and AI capability roadmap development, tooling decisions, and the sequencing of investments needed to build a scalable data and AI consulting practice.
Design and deliver internal AI training programs customized for each Cayuse service line and include practical case studies.
Coordinate, develop and deliver AI literacy sessions for Umatilla Indian Reservation students, translating the practical importance of data and AI into terms that resonate with the communities Cayuse supports and the workforce it is building.
External Representation and Thought Leadership
Speak at conferences and client events on topics such as data strategy, AI adoption, Responsible AI, and workforce reskilling to increase Cayuse's visibility as a trusted data and AI resource in the markets it serves.
Represent Cayuse as needed in strategic client conversations and executive briefings, providing technical credibility.

Qualifications
Qualifications – Here’s What You Need
Advanced degree in quantitative fields such as statistics, data science, computer science, or quantitative methods.
Over 20 years of progressive experience in data science, AI/ML, and technology strategy, in senior advisory roles across multiple industries.
Proven experience in designing and delivering large-scale AI training and upskilling programs across diverse audiences and organizational levels.
Proven success in leading or contributing to RFP responses involving data science and AI capabilities for federal, state, and local government, and commercial clients.
Experience working across organizational boundaries — across service lines internally and across stakeholder levels externally — with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to nontechnical decision-makers.
External presence in the data science and AI field through experience, publications, conference presentations, or advisory roles.
Familiarity with federal AI policy, responsible AI frameworks, and the regulatory environment shaping AI adoption in government contracting.
Public Trust, Secret or Top-Secret Clearance appreciated.
Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.
Minimum Skills Required:
Must possess problem-solving skills.
Executive presence, Exceptional leadership/management skills, Excellent oral and written communication skills, confident presentation skills.
Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.
Highly motivated with the ability to handle and manage multiple tasks at any one time.
Ability to forge new relationships, individual and teaming in nature.
Must be a Self-starter, that can work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions

Pay Range
USD $200,000.00 - USD $250,000.00 /Yr.
