Job Title: Assistant Property Manager
Job Description
We are seeking a full-time Assistant Property Manager to join our team and support daily operations at a HUD-assisted property in the North End of Hartford. This role is perfect for a detail-oriented and organized individual with experience or interest in affordable housing compliance, tenant relations, and administrative operations.
Responsibilities
Assist the Property Manager with the day-to-day operations of the property.
Maintain organized tenant files in accordance with HUD regulations.
Answer phones, respond to emails, and manage office communications.
Schedule and coordinate appointments with residents.
Assist with leasing activities including showing units and processing applications.
Maintain waiting lists in compliance with HUD guidelines.
Prepare lease documents and move-in/move-out paperwork.
Ensure timely unit turnovers and readiness for occupancy.
Assist with annual and interim recertifications (HUD/Section 8).
Collect and review income/asset documentation from residents.
Enter and update tenant data in property management systems (e.g., PHAWeb).
Ensure all files meet audit and regulatory standards.
Provide excellent customer service to residents and applicants.
Address resident concerns and escalate issues as needed.
Support community engagement and resident satisfaction initiatives.
Assist with rent collection, ledger management, and follow-ups on delinquencies.
Help enforce lease terms and policies.
Prepare reports as requested by management.
Upload and maintain accurate digital tenant and compliance files within our network.
Essential Skills
1–3 years of property management, administrative, or related experience preferred.
Experience with HUD/Section 8 or affordable housing programs is a strong plus.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
Experience with property management software (e.g., PHAWeb) preferred.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Must be reliable and able to work on-site Monday through Friday.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
Work Environment
The position requires working on-site in a dynamic and engaging environment, offering the opportunity to be part of a community-focused organization. The role involves using technologies such as SharePoint for document storage and organization, and working with property management systems like PHAWeb. The workweek is Monday through Friday, and the dress code is professional.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hartford, CT.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.63 - $24.04/hr.
