We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee financial operations for a portfolio of properties in Hartford, Connecticut. This role involves managing monthly accounting close activities, ensuring compliance with financial reporting standards, and providing on-site support to partner Housing Authorities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills and a thorough understanding of accounting principles.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise a team responsible for completing monthly close processes for multiple properties.

• Ensure timely completion of monthly close activities by managing and tracking schedules.

• Review and approve bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy.

• Analyze trial balances for compliance with organizational standards and accuracy.

• Oversee the preparation and distribution of financial reports to stakeholders on a monthly and quarterly basis.

• Reconcile between internal systems and property management software.

• Assist in preparing annual operating budgets and submitting municipal income and expense reports.

• Provide on-site guidance and supervision of accounting staff.

• Ensure consistent implementation of internal accounting controls and procedures.

• Support audits, insurance renewals, and reserve account activity for assigned properties.

Requirements • Proven experience in month-end close processes and financial reporting.

• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and account reconciliation.

• Expertise in managing journal entries and trial balance analysis.

• Familiarity with preparing financial statements and conducting audits.

• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks.

• Ability to develop and manage operating budgets effectively.

• Excellent leadership and communication skills to support teams and stakeholders.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
