UPMC Physical Therapist - Concussion Specialty in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
UPMC Community is looking for a new Physical Therapist to join their concussion-focused clinic. This position will collaborate with neuropsychologists, sports medicine physicians, athletic trainers, and staff members at local schools. Previous concussion experience preferred but will take new grads. Apply today!
Schedule: Monday - Friday from 7:30 am - 4:00 pm. No weekends or holidays!
This position does have the possibility for future travel.
Purpose:
Provide specialized evaluation and treatment for patients with concussion and persisting symptoms post-concussion, including vestibular, oculomotor, and exertional impairments. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support safe return to school, work, and sport.
Responsibilities:
Perform comprehensive concussion evaluations (history, symptom assessment, objective testing)
Assesses and treat
Vestibular dysfunction (e.g., dizziness, balance deficits)
Oculomotor impairments (e.g., convergence, saccades)
Exertional intolerance
Develop individualized treatment plans for persisting symptoms post-concussion
Administer exertion testing as part of UPMC return-to-play protocols
Collaborate with neuropsychologists, sports medicine physicians, athletic trainers, and staff members at local schools
EDUCATIONAL/KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Graduate of an accredited program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Active license in practicing state required.
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Physical Therapist (PT)
Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
Act 33 with renewal
Act 34 with renewal
Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
