Birchwood Construction Company Senior Staff Accountant in Harbor Springs, Michigan

Location: On-site | Harbor Springs, MI Salary: $65,000--$80,000 per year (based on education and experience)

You'll work closely with the Director of Finance, Project Managers, and the broader accounting team --- applying both analytical skill and attention to detail. Key Responsibilities

Construction Billing

  • Set up and maintain project estimates and contracts
  • Review material and labor reports; resolve discrepancies
  • Process change orders in conjunction with Project Managers
  • Prepare and submit monthly owner billing statements

Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Approve and process invoices, expense reports, and payments
  • Monitor vendor discounts, tax compliance, and schedule payments (checks, ACH)
  • Reconcile vendor accounts, bank statements, general ledger accounts, and resolve discrepancies.

Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Record incoming payments and apply them to customer accounts
  • Process remote check deposits

General Accounting Duties

  • Assist with month-end close and financial reporting
  • Maintain accounting records, policies, and procedures
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries
  • Assist with special projects as assigned

* Qualifications*

  • Degree in Accounting
  • 5 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of accounting procedures and principles
  • Ability to meet deadlines without compromising accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional demeanor and positive attitude
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Utmost professionalism
