Job Duties

Days: Monday–Saturday

Daily Hours: 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.

Responsible for a wide range of tasks related to crop production, including loading and unloading crops and materials manually or using equipment such as conveyors, forklifts, and augers. Duties include mixing and applying fertilizers and pesticides, operating tractors, combines, and irrigation systems, and maintaining farm machinery. Workers will attach and operate implements such as plows, sprayers, and harvesters, and drive trucks to transport crops, supplies, and personnel. Additional responsibilities include irrigating soil, maintaining irrigation systems, tilling, planting, cultivating, and harvesting grain and vegetable crops including alfalfa, carrots, corn, dry beans, kidney beans, silage, sugar beets, and wheat. Workers must be able to detect equipment malfunctions, perform basic repairs, and record crop weights and other identifying information.

Minimum Education Required

No High School Diploma or GED required.

Minimum Experience Required

Minimum of three (3) months of recent, verifiable experience relevant to the job duties. Workers must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 60 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks including extensive pushing, pulling, walking, sitting, stooping, bending, and repetitive movements. Exposure to extreme temperatures is expected. A valid driver’s license must be obtained within 30 days of hire. Post-hire drug screening is required at the employer’s expense due to the liability of operating equipment. A criminal background check is also required post-hire, at the employer’s expense. Failure to pass either the drug screen or background check will result in termination. Workers must be able to speak English and adhere to strict biosecurity protocols, company policies, and food safety guidelines.

Additional Compensation

As required for all workers in Minnesota, hours worked in excess of 48 hours in a work week will be paid at the rate of 1.5 times the regular rate of pay.

EMPLOYER ASSURANCES: Work guaranteed for 3/4 of contract period, starting with date of arrival at work site. Employer provides free housing for workers whose residence is beyond normal commuting distance. Employer pays inbound transportation and subsistence to work site upon 50% completion of work contract for workers whose residence is beyond normal commuting distance. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of at least $16.28 per day during travel to a maximum of $68.00 per day with receipts. Required work-related tools and supplies provided free of charge by employer.

Effective Jan 1, 2024, per MN State Statute, an employee will earn one hour of paid sick and safe time for every 30 hours worked, up to at least 48 hours of accrued Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) per year, provided the employee works a minimum of 80 hours in a calendar year.
