ASFC Federal AFSS is seeking a Financial Data Analyst to support a NASA Contract in Hampton VA.

Position Summary

The Financial Data Analyst will provide comprehensive data analytics support to the OCFO organization, focusing on developing advanced ETL workflows, creating expert-level financial reports and dashboards, and building automated solutions using modern programming and data visualization tools. This position requires expertise in multiple financial systems including SAP, ALDS, CGE, and PPS, along with advanced proficiency in data analytics platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, and Databricks. The specialist will also provide training and technical guidance to coworkers on advanced data analytics tools and programming functions.

Job Duties

  • Design and implement advanced ETL data workflows using PowerQuery Editor, Databricks, or similar tools to integrate disparate financial data sources from multiple systems‎

  • Develop expert-level financial reports and dashboards from SAP, ALDS, CGE, PPS, and BusinessObjects to support monthly reviews, action items, and decision-making processes

  • Create visually engaging dashboards using Power BI (with DAX) and Tableau to present complex financial information in accessible formats‎

  • Develop, maintain, and update complex VBA code, functions, and macros for financial report integration requiring minimal manual data entry‎

  • Design and develop new financial applications using O365 suite tools including Power Apps and Power Automate to automate business processes and enhance productivity‎

  • Provide advanced programming support using Python and JavaScript for custom data analytics solutions and automation initiatives‎

  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and logical assurance across all financial data integration, reporting, and analytics activities‎

  • Provide training to coworkers on advanced programming functions and data analytics tools including Power BI, Tableau, VBA, and Python‎

  • Participate in OCFO Functional Champion communities for data analytics across Agency and Center teams, contributing to collaborative problem-solving and best practices‎

  • Manage project milestones, deliver status reports, and maintain code repositories with version control documentation to ensure project success and knowledge preservation‎

Skills & Requirements

  • Programming & Development: Expert-level proficiency in VBA/Excel; Advanced proficiency in Python; Advanced experience with Power Apps and Power Automate

  • Data & Analytics Tools: Advanced expertise in PowerQuery Editor, Databricks, Power BI and DAX, Tableau, and Tableau Prep (Intermediate/Advanced); Advanced experience with BusinessObjects Analysis for Microsoft Office‎

  • Data Expertise: Demonstrated experience with data wrangling and ETL processes; Intermediate experience with predictive modeling; Proven ability to ensure data quality, consistency, and logical assurance‎

  • Communication Skills: Strong consultancy and non-technical communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and train coworkers‎

  • Financial Systems: Advanced knowledge of SAP including variants and custom report layouts; Advanced experience with NASA Labor and Travel Systems; Advanced experience with ALDS, CGE, and PPS systems‎

  • Software Platforms: Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Excel, Power Apps, Power Automate); Power BI Desktop and Service; Databricks environment; BusinessObjects; Python development environments; Version control systems (Git/GitHub); Data visualization platforms‎

  • Individual must meet government NAC and citizenship/permanent residency requirements for access to NASA GSFC. Extensive background investigation will be performed as a requirement of the job. Some travel may be required.

Onsite & Travel

The individual selected for this role must be located near a NASA center, preferably Langley (Hampton, VA), Headquarters (Washington, DC), or Goddard (Greenbelt, MD). When requested, they should plan to attend meeting in-person at this location. Additionally, occasional travel for face-to-face meetings at other NASA centers may be required.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree and 2-4 year of related experience or 6-8 years of related experience in lieu of degree.
