Amazon Work Preparator (Support Engineering), Amazon Mechatronics & Sustainable Packaging (MSP) in Hamme, Belgium

At our Hamme lab, ideas quickly move from concept → prototype → production.

To support this innovation, we are looking for a: Work Preparator (Werkvoorbereider / Production Planner / Manufacturing Planner / Production Coordinator) to join our production team in Hamme.

Key job responsibilities

In this role, you ensure that production activities run smoothly and align with project timelines.

Your responsibilities include:

-Planning and monitoring internal production across machining processes (CNC turning, milling, welding, sheet metal)

-Defining detailed production routings and workflows for the shop floor

-Coordinating with external suppliers to ensure on-time deliveries aligned with project milestones

-Managing raw material orders and monitoring stock levels for internal manufacturing

Engineering Collaboration: You work closely with engineering teams to ensure designs can be efficiently manufactured.

Key activities include:

-Partnering with engineers early in the design phase to assess manufacturability

-Identifying potential production challenges and proposing practical solutions

-Translating technical drawings into optimized machining and fabrication processes

-Project Coordination

-You represent the production department within multiple cross-functional development projects.

-Contributing production expertise to project planning and scheduling

-Ensuring new projects are fully prepared before entering production

-Proactively identifying and escalating potential bottlenecks or delivery risks

-Production Analysis & Continuous Improvement

-You also play an important role in improving production performance.

-Performing pre-calculations of production times to support accurate planning

-Conducting post-calculations to compare planned versus actual performance

-Analyzing production data to identify efficiency improvements

A day in the life

As a Work Preparator, you are the key link between engineering, production, and external suppliers.

You ensure that innovative designs from our engineering teams are translated into efficient and manufacturable production processes.

Your work focuses on preparing, planning, and coordinating the production of mechanical components within a machining environment that includes:

-CNC turning

-CNC milling

-Welding

-Sheet metal fabrication

Your contribution enables our teams to transform new automation concepts into real systems used across Amazon’s global operations.

Basic Qualifications

  • Knowledge of mechanical production processes (e.g., milling, turning, welding…)

  • Knowledge of ERP systems, SAP is a plus

  • Experience in Microsoft Office

  • Communication skills in English, both verbal and written

Preferred Qualifications

  • Communication skills in Dutch, both verbal and written

  • Ability to work independently

  • Proactive approach to problem solving
