Temporary Fulltime position from 2-15-206 to 12-14-2026 60Hours/week 18.48/ hour US worker H-2A Adverse Housing Compensation Adjustment -$1.80 -- Wage for H-2A workers provided housing is $16.68 We are requesting a shift in the date of need, as our calving is now beginning around 2/15. We need workers into December to help us sort cattle and set up winter feeders. The General Farm Ranch Hand position will be required to perform a variety of duties related to the production of cattle and hay. Duties will include the following: check physical characteristics, observe general condition of livestock and apply the appropriate care, examine animals to detect illness/injury/disease, rate of weight gain to determine delivery time, assist in delivery and night calving, apply or administer medications/vaccines, mix feed/additives when cattle are not out to pasture; build water barriers around water tanks; place mineral blocks, drive equipment, herd livestock to various pastures, sort cattle on foot in grow yard; ride horse and/or 4-wheeler to move cows; assist with branding; confine livestock in stalls, clean/disinfect livestock corrals/stalls/sheds, dock, castrate, brand, clip/tag and clamp livestock. Worker will be required to operate farm equipment for planting and harvesting hay; operate skid steer with attachments; perform general maintenance on equipment; irrigate fields with pivots, wheel lines, and flood irrigation and install and remove irrigation pipe, manually/routinely move pipe, maintaining irrigation equipment and overseeing operation of irrigation pumps; operate round bale picker to move/stack bales, maintain fences, manually pick rocks, and perform general cleanup of farm acreage, pens, corrals and barns. Worker must be willing to perform tasks capably and efficiently without close supervision. The job entails working with farm animals and machinery, outdoors in all types of weather (extreme heat, wind and cold) and occasional exposure to herding hazards such as cattle stampedes, kicking/bucking horses, poisonous snakes and predators. Worker must crouch, bend, lift and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds. Night shifts required during calving season and long/odd during irrigation and haying season. Drivers' license is required. Housing and Workers Compensation insurance will be provided at no charge to the workers. Social security / Medicaid Taxes and Federal / State taxes will be withheld from U.S. Worker's paychecks. Voluntary withholdings will be deducted from foreign workers' paychecks at their request. Employer will make the following deductions when applicable: FICA, loans and advances, long-distance telephone charges the reasonable repair or replacement cost of willful or negligent damage to housing, tools and equipment caused by the worker (other than normal wear and tear). Sunday - worker may be requested to work on Sunday but not obligated to do so. 60 hrs/week - Avg. (depending on ranch activities and weather, hours could range from 40 - 70/wk. Long odd hours to be expected during harvest and night shifts during calving season. Normal hours are 7:30am to 7:00pm, Mon - Sat.
