The Opportunity

Your Impact Starts Here – Step into a senior role that shapes the safe, efficient, and strategic delivery of some of Canada’s most complex infrastructure and clean energy programs. From modernizing the power grid to enabling reliable, low carbon electricity for communities nationwide, your work will help build a more resilient future.

As a Senior Project Planner / Scheduler , you will play a critical role in supporting major Transmission, Distribution, and power infrastructure projects across Canada, with a strong preference for candidates based in the Greater Toronto Area (Ontario) . Working closely with project managers and technical leaders, you’ll establish and maintain robust performance measurement baselines while driving schedule certainty across all phases of delivery.

As part of WSP’s national Energy, Resources & Industry (ERI) group, you’ll contribute to refurbishment, decommissioning, and new build programs, while being mentored by industry leaders and advancing toward senior project controls leadership and potential PMP certification.

Your Impact

In this role, you will:

  • Lead integrated project planning and scheduling by developing, maintaining, and optimizing master schedules for Substation, Transmission, and Distribution projects across engineering, procurement, and construction phases.

  • Enable confident project delivery by partnering closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure schedules remain accurate, achievable, and aligned with scope, safety, and regulatory requirements.

  • Drive schedule certainty and transparency through advanced use of Primavera P6, time‑chainage tools, and MS Project to track milestones, dependencies, critical paths, and resource demands.

  • Strengthen portfolio‑level performance by supporting resource planning, allocation, and optimization across multiple concurrent projects and programs.

  • Anticipate and manage schedule risk by identifying and modeling impacts related to licensing, outage windows, regulatory reviews, and scope changes, including the development of robust “what‑if” scenarios.

  • Integrate owner and contractor schedules to establish clear baselines, aligned work breakdown structures (WBS), and a single source of truth for project execution and reporting.

  • Protect project outcomes through proactive risk management by performing quantitative cost and schedule risk analysis, recommending mitigation strategies, and addressing schedule, resource, and budget challenges early.

  • Inform decision‑making at every level by producing clear dashboards, KPIs, reports, and presentations that support client meetings, audits, project reviews, and continuous improvement of planning processes.

  • Serve as a trusted, client‑facing advisor by confidently presenting, explaining, and defending schedule, cost, and risk analysis findings, supporting informed decision‑making during client meetings, reviews, and audits.

The Skills That Set You Apart

  • Advanced expertise in Primavera P6, with strong command of planning, scheduling, risk, and change management principles.

  • 15+ years of experience in project planning and scheduling for power generation, transmission and distribution, mining, or other heavy industrial infrastructure projects.

  • Deep knowledge of project controls methodologies, including EVM, critical path analysis, cost and resource forecasting, QSRA, QCRA, and Monte Carlo analysis.

  • Proven ability to manage complex, integrated schedules across multidisciplinary teams and multiple work fronts.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify risks, assess impacts, and translate data into actionable insights.

  • High level of commercial awareness, sound judgment, and a collaborative, solutions focused mindset.

  • Excellent client facing, presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to meet security clearance requirements, as applicable.
