Manulife Director, Integrated Approach Program Governance in Halifax, Nova Scotia
The Director, Integrated Approach Program Governance will play a critical leadership role in driving the successful execution and governance of the Integrated Approach Program. This program spans multiple stakeholders and product owners across Risk, Privacy, Compliance, Audit, and IT. The Director will be responsible for maintaining program health, ensuring effective collaboration across workstreams, and overseeing vendor activities. Additionally, the role involves running key governance forums, leading monthly steering committee (SteerCo) meetings, and managing a small team of staff. The ideal candidate will bring strong problem-solving skills, agile execution expertise, and hands-on experience with Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) tools such as Archer or ServiceNow (SNOW).
As the Director, Integrated Approach Program Governance, you will have the unique opportunity to lead a strategic program that drives integration, governance, and excellence across critical functions. You will work with a dynamic team and stakeholders at all levels, driving meaningful impact while ensuring effective execution and program success.
Position Responsibilities:
- Program Coordination and Governance:
Serve as the central point of coordination for the Integrated Approach Program, ensuring alignment across governance teams.
Establish and run program governance forums, including working groups and monthly steering committee (SteerCo) meetings, ensuring clear communication and effective decision-making.
Maintain the overall health of the program by proactively identifying risks, issues, and dependencies, and driving resolution.
Ensure seamless connectivity and collaboration across various stakeholders and workstreams.
- Execution and Delivery:
Drive agile program execution to meet key deliverables, ensuring milestones are achieved on time and within scope.
Monitor program KPIs and metrics, providing regular updates to the Head of IAP Centralized Governance.
Lead problem-solving initiatives to address program challenges and risks in a timely and effective manner.
- Vendor Oversight:
Oversee vendor activities to ensure alignment with program objectives, contractual obligations, and performance standards.
Manage vendor relationships, ensuring timely delivery of quality outcomes and value to the program.
- Leadership and Team Management:
Provide leadership and direction to a small team of program staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and high performance.
Mentor and develop staff, ensuring effective delegation and capacity-building.
- Tools and Technology Management:
Leverage experience with GRC tools such as Archer or ServiceNow (SNOW) to support program governance, reporting, and execution.
Ensure appropriate use of tools to track, measure, and communicate program progress and risks.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, Information Technology, or related field. Post-graduate degree or professional designation in a related risk, control or compliance domain is an asset.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in program management, governance, or a related leadership role.
Experience coordinating complex, cross-functional programs involving multiple stakeholders.
Strong background in Risk, Privacy, Compliance, Audit, or IT domains.
Hands-on experience with GRC tools such as Archer or ServiceNow (SNOW).
Proven ability to lead agile execution and drive successful program outcomes.
Experience managing vendor relationships and overseeing vendor performance.
Prior experience managing teams with strong leadership and mentoring abilities.

Salary range is expected to be between
$113,260.00 CAD - $210,340.00 CAD
Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
