Summary:
- A School Bus Driver provides daily transportation services to students on an assigned route. The Driver interacts with Parents, Teachers, and other School Board personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Pick up passengers at pre-determined locations
Exhibits the highest ethical best practices and personal integrity; Shares concerns about suspicious or inappropriate behavior with their supervisor or manager
Report to work on time and operate route in a safe manner
Conduct pre-trip inspections daily, using Company tools and swipe technology
Practice defensive driving at all times, and proactively avoid accidents by practicing safe driving and work habits
Lift and close bus doors daily, and assist passengers who are boarding and exiting the bus
Evacuate bus in emergency situations and physically assist passengers to evacuate
Refill fuel and washer fluid in assigned vehicle when necessary, before picking up passengers
Manage student behaviour by exercising communication and discipline as per Company policies, and report student discipline issues to the school and to the Company immediately
Report all accidents, incidents, and major or minor defects, to office immediately
Complete all required paperwork, including route change sheets, time cards, vehicle repair requests, in a timely manner
Deliver vehicle to office for repairs, preventative maintenance inspections, and repairs
Contact parents of passengers if instructed to by the Company
Attend all Company Safety Meetings
Adhere to Company standards in the operation of Company vehicles and customer service
Follow all Company policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, as well as local Customer Service Center work directions and instructions
Perform other tasks as assigned by the Company

Qualifications
Requirements:
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must hold valid provincial driver’s license and possess good driving history (no more than 3 demerit points accumulated and no speeding tickets over 24km/hr)
Must have at least 2 years of driving history in Canada
Must successfully complete the Company provided training program required by the province
Ability to obtain the provincial driver’s license required to operate a school bus
Must successfully complete a criminal background check and Vulnerable Sector Screen (VSS)
Must successfully complete medical test as per the province’s requirements
A First-Aid Certificate may be required depending on the school board
Must be available to work a split shift (both morning and afternoon shifts) on a daily basis from Monday to Friday
Must possess tact and diplomacy in dealing with students, parents, and school district/board personnel
Must be committed, dependable and reliable.
