IBM Agentic Optimization- MSC/PHD Student Position- Research Lab in Haifa, Israel

Your role and responsibilities
Are you passionate about advancing the frontiers of generative AI, agentic systems, and their real-world applications?
As a Student Researcher, you will join a dynamic team of leading AI researchers working on cutting-edge challenges in agentic architectures, reasoning, and enterprise-scale automation.
Your work will span a range of topics, including:
Agentic systems and reasoning
Utilization and optimization of external tools
Evaluation of LLMs and generative AI applications
You will collaborate closely with senior researchers to explore and develop new agentic methods, such as:
Context engineering
Memory and tool optimization
Runtime simulation
Test-time scaling
Evolutionary optimization
Required technical and professional expertise
• PhD or MSc student in Machine Learning (preferably in NLP)
• Extensive, up-to-date knowledge of the LLM space.
• Hands-on experience writing Python code and using LLM libraries (e.g., Huggingface Transformers, PyTorch). Experience with agentic frameworks (e.g., LangGraph, CrewAI) is advantageous but not required.
• Strong team player with the ability to work independently.
• Innovative thinker, creative, and self-driven.
• Fluent in English.
