Role Overview
The Security Fleet Operations Specialist is a hands‑on engineer responsible for the day‑to‑day operation, monitoring, and support of Aon’s fleet of security tools and platforms across
You will monitor and support tools such as firewalls, proxies, endpoint security, SIEM, Active Directory, Entra ID and related services, helping to ensure secure, reliable access for our users worldwide.
What the day will look like
Monitor and support security technologies including: firewalls, proxies, WAF, IDS/IPS, endpoint security (AV/EDR/DLP), and cloud security controls.
Operate and support IAM platforms, including Microsoft Active Directory and Entra ID (user/group management, GPOs, DNS/replication monitoring, basic PKI tasks).
Perform daily health checks, log reviews and basic packet/traffic analysis to identify and resolve issues.
Respond to platform related incidents and requests escalated from Tier‑1; participate in incident response, root cause analysis and problem management.
Plan and execute approved changes in production and DR environments following ITIL processes.
Work with infrastructure, patching teams and vendors to deploy security and platform patches and hotfixes.
Maintain clear documentation (run books, SOPs, troubleshooting guides) and contribute to process and automation improvements.
Collaborate with global security engineering, infrastructure and application teams, participating in rota‑based out‑of‑hours and on‑call support as required.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
Technical Skills
Solid understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, DHCP, OSI/TCP‑IP models, IPv4/IPv6 addressing and subnetting.
Good knowledge of Windows Server / Windows client operating systems.
Exposure to network security devices (firewalls, proxies, WAF, IDS/IPS) and endpoint security tools (AV, EDR, DLP).
Basic to good experience with Active Directory / Entra ID administration (users, groups, GPOs, OUs, DNS/replication concepts).
Experience reading/interpreting logs and using tools such as Wireshark and SIEM platforms.
Working knowledge of PowerShell for basic automation.
Nice to have: experience with CrowdStrike, Tanium, Okta, CyberArk, VMware, Azure or AWS.
Soft Skills
Quick learner with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Clear, confident communication with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Team‑oriented, able to work across regions and time zones with a strong sense of ownership and customer focus.
Background
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electronics or equivalent experience.
3+ years’ relevant commercial experience in security operations, network operations or IAM operations.
Preferred: working towards or holding security/network/IAM certifications (e.g., PCNSE, Zscaler, MCSE or similar).
Working Pattern
This is a 24/7 operational environment.
Flexibility to work shifts, including nights and weekends, and to participate in a global on‑call rota is required.
