We are seeking an experienced Atlassian Engineer to join our team at American Express Global Business Travel. In this role, you will be responsible for managing, optimizing, and supporting our Atlassian ecosystem to enhance collaboration and productivity across the organization.
What You’ll Do
System Administration & Maintenance : Manage and maintain Jira, Confluence, and Trello instances, ensuring optimal performance, security, and uptime
Configuration & Customization : Configure workflows, custom fields, and automation rules in Jira to support business processes
User Support : Provide technical support and training to end-users on Atlassian tools, troubleshooting issues and resolving tickets
Platform Integration Management : Plan and implement integrations of Jira and Confluence with other internal and third-party applications, APIs, and systems to streamline workflows and data synchronization
Documentation : Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, templates, and best practices in Confluence
Project Tracking : Oversee project management workflows in Jira and Trello, ensuring alignment with organizational standards
Performance Optimization : Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements
Automation Implementation : Implement automation rules and scripts using Jira Automation, Script Runner, or equivalent tools to reduce manual effort and increase operational efficiency
Infrastructure & Maintenance : Oversee infrastructure setup, installation, maintenance, and continuous monitoring of application and server performance to ensure optimal uptime and reliability
Custom Development : Create custom integrations and enhancements using Jira REST APIs and scripting languages
Plugin Management : Work with key plugins such as Script Runner, JMWE, Email This Issue, Draw.io, Comala Workflow, and Extension for Jira Service Desk
Cloud Migration : Lead and execute migrations from Server/Data Center to Atlassian Cloud, ensuring data integrity and minimal disruption
What We’re Looking For
5+ years of hands-on experience in Atlassian administration and migrations
Proven expertise in migrating from Server/Data Center to Atlassian Cloud
Strong experience installing, configuring, and upgrading Jira and Confluence Data Center applications and related components
Demonstrated proficiency with Jira and Confluence API integrations, webhooks, and plugins with enterprise applications and systems
Experience with data export, import, and validation processes; familiarity with migration tools and techniques (e.g., CSV imports, API usage)
Hands-on experience with Atlassian migration tools (e.g., Jira Cloud Migration Assistant, Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant)
Scripting skills in languages such as Groovy, Python, or JavaScript for automating migration tasks and configurations
Strong knowledge of Atlassian Cloud features, limitations, and best practices
Experience with user management, including SSO and integration with identity providers (e.g., Okta, Azure AD)
Proficiency in implementing automation rules and scripts using Jira Automation, Script Runner, or equivalent tools
Experience building and supporting integrations with enterprise systems (CI/CD, identity management, monitoring, collaboration, CMDB, and analytics platforms)
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s / Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
Atlassian Certified Professional (ACP) certifications (e.g., ACP Jira Administration, ACP Jira Project Management)
Proven experience with Jira, Confluence, and Trello migrations and integrations
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and DevOps tooling (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub, GitLab)
Hands-on experience with Atlassian products including Jira Service Management and their cloud-specific features
Expertise in configurations, permissions, workflows, and add-ons across Atlassian ecosystem
Experience with performance tuning and optimization of Atlassian environments
Experience with Atlassian Cloud and Server/Data Center environments
Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, or similar)
Experience with agile methodologies
