Uncharted Marine Canvas Marine Canvas and Upholstery Installer/Shop Helper in Gulf Breeze, Florida
We are seeking a motivated, hands-on Marine Canvas and Upholstery Installer/Shop Helper to join our custom fabrication team. This role is responsible for supporting the lead technicians in creating, repairing, and installing high-quality canvas and upholstery products for boats and yachts. The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn marine craft skills, and is comfortable working both in a shop environment and outdoors on vessels.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Fitting (On-Site/Dockside):
Assist in measuring, patterning, and fitting new boat covers, biminis, cushions, and enclosures on vessels.
Install marine-grade hardware, fasteners, snaps, and zippers on fiberglass, composite, or wood surfaces.
Help remove old upholstery and canvas components for repair or replacement.
Transport materials, tools, and finished products between the shop and marina.
Shop Helper Duties:
Cut foam, fabric, and marine-grade materials according to patterns.
Assist with operating industrial sewing machines (if experienced) or prep materials for sewing (zipper taping, basting).
Perform hand-finishing tasks such as stapling, gluing, and cushion assembly.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace to promote safety and efficiency.
Clean tools and machinery after use.
Tools: Basic knowledge of hand tools (staple guns, drills, measuring tapes) and safety procedures.
Physical Aptitude: Ability to lift and move heavy materials (cushions, fabric rolls) up to 50 lbs, work in tight spaces, and climb on/off boats.
Environment: Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, sun).
Attitude: Strong work ethic, team player, punctual, and high attention to detail.
Licensure: Valid drivers license (clean record preferred).
