Brown-Forman Statutory Compliance Senior Accountant in Guadalajara, Mexico
Quote from Hiring Manager This exciting role interacts with multiple regions functions and has the responsibility over the Regional entities (México, Colombia, Chile & Argentina) statutory compliance and accounting processes.
Meaningful Work From Day One Compliance is a key factor to ensure business continuity. This role works closely with the Tax, legal and audit areas both, local and corporate teams, gubernamental entities, and other functions to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and is also responsible for the end to end accounting cycle (Journals, analysis and reconciliations), and assisting to the Accounting Manager on financial statements preparation and, its conversion (from USGAAP to NIF’s through SPL) and their analysis as well.
What You Can Expect
Responsible for the statutory compliance of legal entities for the region.(Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Argentina)
Responsible for coordinating the Month, Quarter & Year close process, by ensuring all transactions are properly and timely registered in all sets of books.
Assist the accounting manager in providing accounting support and analysis on operations (payroll, inventories, expenses, fixed asset, etc), and their comparative accounting normative as well as participate in projects leading to significant growth for the Company.
Coordinates information with Outsource Vendors to ensure statutory compliance in Colombia, Chile and Argentina
Supports the intercompany accounting process: booking, reconciliations, invoicing, interest calculations.
Coordinates the documentation for transfer price reports required for Tax compliance and including transactions details, balances, information for the Master File and local reports
Responsible for monthly/quarterly and annual filings, as required for statutory compliance of the region, including Statistic Economy Report, Electronic Accounting, etc.
Assist the preparation of Annual Signed reports of Mexican legal entities
Responsible for preparing and or coordinating information requested for government audits (within the region)
Responsible of coordinating and preparing, information for statutory audits according to schedules
Assist with the completion of Internal Audits and SOX compliance
Reviews, maintains, and reconciles accounts, making adjustments, corrections and journal entries as appropriate (eg: US GAAP and MFRS)
Prepares reconciliation between US GAAP and Local books for all entities; performs ad hoc adjustments, and maintains Special Ledger (SPL)
Participates in special projects and ad-hoc analysis in support of finance department and company initiatives
Performs variations analysis and explanations
What You Bring to the Table
Accounting, tax compliance and transfer pricing experience are a must.
Professional register in the Regional Accounting Council is a must
Strong analytical skills, knowledge of the use of data analysis and metrics and the ability to translate data and trends into actions
Strong technical accounting background, previous career experience in a Big 4 is a plus.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to present and articulate complex financial analysis in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.
Ability to build productive relationships across all levels and functions.
Fluency (oral and written) in English and Spanish
Ability to work in a high-pressure environment, meet deadlines and simultaneously develop, deploy, and coordinate multiple projects.
What Makes You Unique
Strong knowledge in Mexico’s statutory compliance, LATAM experience is a plus.
Project management experience and strong organizational skills with ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
Professional register in the Regional Accounting Council is desired
Advanced computer skills with current, or ability to quickly build, proficiency of Microsoft’s Suite, Tableau, SAP, Blackline, desiderable analysis using AI
