IBM API / Integration Engineer in GUADALAJARA, Mexico
Introduction
The API / Integration Engineer will design, implement, and support enterprise-grade APIs and integration solutions within a modern cloud-native environment for a leading Energy and Utility organization. This role focuses on building scalable integrations on EKS, ensuring alignment with API governance standards, and supporting future AI‑driven API management capabilities. The engineer will collaborate closely with platform, architecture, and DevOps teams to deliver secure, reliable, and well‑governed integration services that enable critical business and operational systems across the enterprise.
Your role and responsibilities
Design, develop, and support APIs and integrations deployed on EKS.
Implement API lifecycle management, versioning, and operational best practices.
Collaborate with platform teams to ensure APIs meet governance and security standards.
Support enterprise integration scenarios across operational, market, and grid systems.
Contribute to future AI‑driven API governance and automation capabilities.
Required technical and professional expertise
Strong knowledge of REST, API Gateway, and microservices
Experience with Kubernetes-based API deployments (EKS)
4-8 years of API and integration engineering experience
Understanding of integration patterns and messaging
Scripting and automation using Python or Go
Preferred technical and professional experience
Exposure to API governance frameworks
DevOps experience with GitHub build and deployment workflows
Experience supporting enterprise integration use cases in Energy/Utilities
Knowledge of API lifecycle management and versioning best practices
Familiarity with emerging AI‑driven API governance capabilities
