Clarke County Commission Equipment Operator I - Full-Time Temporary Position in Grove Hill, Alabama
Under the direction of the Assistant County Engineer or the Superintendent, the employee is responsible for the operation of light equipment. Such equipment includes dump trucks, tractors and pick-up trucks. Employee hauls materials to work site, clears right-of-way with tractor and clears rubbish out of bridge culverts. Also, performs light maintenance of equipment in operation. Performs routine manual labor as required. Equipment Operation Drives dump truck to haul materials to and from job sites. Drives tractor drawing large mower to cut right-of-way or disc plow to prepare surfaces. Drives pick-up truck on light hauls. My operate some specialized equipment such as tar kettle, motor patrol, or asphalt roller. Reviews operator manual for new equipment before use. *Manual Labor *Uses chain saw to cut trees, bushes, and clear brush on right-of-ways. Clears beaver dams and their debris and rubbish out of bridge culvers. Patches potholes in asphalt. Clears dirt from edges of bridges. Assists with traffic flow; flags traffic through. Works with survey crew to clear right-of-way. *Equipment Maintenance *Performs safety and maintenance inspection of assigned equipment. Monitors gauges and other indicators for non-standard conditions while equipment is in operation. Performs light maintenance and servicing in connection with equipment operated; notifies supervisor of mechanical or safety problems. Cleans equipment, steams motors and engines.
