Who will you be working with?
Operation & Technology (O&T) team is a very diverse team covering all service initiatives relative to WABTEC’s locomotives. The team interacts with both WABTEC’s remanufacturing shops as well as customer account service shops, worldwide. This specific role interacts with WABTEC’s diesel engine remanufacturing site in Grove City, PA collaborating with engineering, Supply Chain operation, and customer service accounts.
How will you make a difference?
As a member of the O&T Engine Productivity Division, you will be responsible for supporting, leading, and executing life cycle cost reduction projects for base engine platform within the Global Services Organizations (GSO). In this role, the employee will lead a team of shop support technicians around engine components in the remanufacturing environment. Furthermore, they will influence cross-functional teams, support innovative engine maintenance cost projects that are part of a multi-million dollar project portfolio, and provide technical guidance to shop operations. Employee will have direct interaction with, but not limited to, engineering, supply chain management, quality team, and other Services organizations to ensure proper adherence to specifications and implementation of new processes.
What do we want to know about you?
Qualifications/Requirements:
Associates Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
Minimum of 3 years working with diesel engine manufacturing or at least 1-year experience with WABTEC’s Operation and Technology division
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint and Excel
Efficient time management and multitasking skills
Possess strong mechanical aptitude, ability to use basic measuring tools, and hands-on capabilities to work on projects
Desired Characteristics:
Demonstrated technical depth around WABTEC’s freight diesel engine remanufacturing processes
Direct interaction/understanding of the Wabtec Light Work Scope Engine Process
Fluently and effectively communicate through cross function organizations and upper management
Ability to work constructively in a fast-paced, team environment and accommodate shifting priorities
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Delegate workload accordingly within team of shop support technicians
Strong initiative with the ability to work independently and collaborate with team members
Familiarity with manufacturing processes and the demands of engineering support for a production/factory environment
Ability to lead and execute projects as necessary
Occasional travel may be required
What will your typical day look like?
POC with shop operations to manage daily activities
Oversee and support team of shop specialists
Review and interpret failure mode data from field core returns to properly disposition material within supply chain workscopes
Manage engine dirty core pool for Wabtec’s Light Work Scope Engine Process
Communicate with customer service leads regarding engine failures and customer billing opportunities
Periodically report on relevant metrics to peers and leadership
Monitor scrap rates and analyze trends to proactively communicate supply chain risks
Support the development, validation, and implementation of remanufacturing processes initiated by the O&T team
Engage with design engineering to understand specification limits and effectively communicate to supply chain
Integrate with manufacturing engineering to provide SOP improvements
Generate and present new ideas for remanufacturing processes to Principal and Design engineers
What about the physical demands of the job?
Will need to be aware different PPE requirements given shop floor interaction
Climbing on inbound dirty engines for physical evaluation understanding condition of returned cores
Frequently required to stand for long durations of time and be mobile during disposition of material
You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary rate for this role is currently $62100-85300 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com.
