Career Area:

Job Description:
Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc.
When you join Caterpillar, you're joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do – but also about each other. We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here – we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.
For more than 95 years, Caterpillar has been building the world’s infrastructure and enabling progress that improves lives around the globe. Caterpillar is a global leader in construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines, and diesel‑electric locomotives, serving customers on every continent.
Within Caterpillar’s Product Support & Logistics Division, the European Ground Transportation organization manages a large, multi‑country logistics network supporting more than 25 factories and a broad supplier base. Data and analytics are critical to managing cost, service, and network performance at this scale.
We are looking for an Analytics Engineer – Transportation & Analytics to strengthen our analytics team in Grimbergen (near Brussels). You will work at the intersection of data, operations, and decision‑making, supporting European ground transportation for Caterpillar’s factories and supply base.
This is a hands‑on role with real ownership. You will build and run analytics products end‑to‑end: from shaping requirements with the business, to modelling data, to delivering Power BI dashboards and automations that are used in day‑to‑day operations.
If you enjoy working with large, well‑structured operational datasets, selecting the right data for the right question, and automating manual work, this role is for you.
What you will do
Build, own, and continuously improve Power BI dashboards used by Transportation, Finance, and Supply Chain teams
Translate business problems into clear requirements, measures, and data model design
Work with (and sometimes extend) data models and datasets; partner closely with data engineers on pipelines and source logic
Use SQL and Python to validate data, implement transformations, and create reliable, repeatable outputs
Identify cost opportunities, service issues, and data quality gaps in transportation flows and turn them into actionable recommendations
Automate recurring work with the Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps)
Improve the way we work by simplifying, standardizing, and removing waste (not “build and forget” reporting)
Share best practices and help raise the analytics maturity of the team
What you bring
Must‑have
Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a quantitative or technical field
3–5 years of experience in analytics, BI, or data roles
Strong hands‑on experience with Power BI (Desktop & Service)
Strong skills in SQL and solid working knowledge of Python
Experience with data modelling, transformations, and structured datasets
Comfort working end‑to‑end: ambiguity → structure → delivery → continuous improvement
Clear communication in English and ability to work directly with business stakeholders
Nice to have (not mandatory)
Exposure to transportation, supply chain, finance, or purchasing
Experience with Snowflake, Oracle, Alteryx, Dataiku, or similar data platforms
Familiarity with process improvement concepts (Lean, Six Sigma, Operational Excellence)
Interest or experience in AI and Copilot‑style tools (prompting, automation, decision support).
How we work
You will be part of a small, experienced analytics team with strong business exposure
Your work has direct operational impact across more than 25 European factories
You get ownership and trust, not just task execution
We invest in learning: time, budget, and certifications (Microsoft, Snowflake, …)
We value clarity, pragmatism, and results over buzzwords
What we offer
A challenging analytics engineering role with real‑world impact
Competitive salary and strong extra‑legal benefits
Focus on work‑life balance and wellbeing
A team that values initiative, learning, and collaboration
If you are curious, hands‑on, and want to grow into a broader analytics and decision‑support role within supply chain and transportation, we would like to hear from you.
