The successful candidate will play a vital role as a key member of the safety leadership team. This individual will collaborate closely with operations, customers, and fellow team members to enhance safety performance, drive operational excellence, and strengthen workforce capability. The role focuses on supporting the implementation and sustainability of all applicable customer and operational safety systems. It also involves ensuring regulatory compliance, promoting training completion, and fostering continuous improvement of site-specific policies, procedures, and performance.

    Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with operations, leadership, and customers to foster a strong safety and operational culture, aiming to improve safety awareness at all organizational levels.

  • Mentor, coach, and develop a workforce proficient in rail operations, including creating, executing, and maintaining site-specific procedures across the region.

  • Maintain a visible presence in the field, working alongside team members to observe work practices, reinforce expectations, identify opportunities for improvement, and recognize safe behaviors.

  • Ensure that all work activities are conducted safely and in accordance with company policies, regulatory standards, and customer requirements.

  • Support timely and consistent completion of required training for team members.

  • Build and nurture trusted relationships with customers to deliver value and support long-term partnerships.

  • Promote operational safety by conducting both formal and informal audits and observations of team member behavior and SH&E programs.

    Requirements for Success

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze situations and data to make informed, risk-based decisions.

  • Strong verbal communication skills, with confidence in presenting to groups during frontline training or customer meetings.

  • Excellent written communication skills for drafting procedures, reports, training materials, and proposals.

  • Proficiency in the MS Office Suite and skill in navigating internal reporting systems for analysis and tracking.

  • Willingness and capability to work in the field within industrial environments alongside operators.

  • Comfort working in industrial or refinery environments, including exposure to weather, climbing on and under railcars, lifting more than 40 lbs., and walking long distances on uneven terrain.

  • Ability to travel 40–50% of the time.

    Pr eferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) preferred but not required.

  • Experience in industrial rail operations preferred.

  • Minimum of three years as a safety professional preferred.
