Job Description
•Understand what structured cabling is (voice/data cabling in buildings)
•Identify CAT5e / CAT6 copper cable
•Know the difference between horizontal vs backbone cabling
•Assist with pulling cables through ceilings, walls, conduits, and trays
•Properly dress, route, and secure cable
•Follow basic bend‑radius and strain rules (with supervision)
•Use basic hand tools:
o Cable cutters
o Cable strippers
o Punch down tools
•Ability to:
o Lift and carry basic materials
o Stand, bend, crawl, climb for extended periods

Skills and Requirements
oExperience working in the Audio Visual or Access Control Environment
oWorking with specific access control panels, and audio-visual equipment specific to the commercial industrial installation side This is an entry level role as a Structured Cabling Technician supports senior technicians by assisting with the installation of low voltage cabling in commercial environments, including pulling, routing, dressing, labeling, and organizing CAT5e/CAT6 cables through ceilings, walls, conduits, and cable pathways. Daily, they stage materials and tools, work from ladders, follow safety rules and instructions, maintain clean work areas, and help prepare cables for termination while learning proper installation practices. This role is hands on, physically active, team based, and focused on reliability, safety, and learning the trade under supervision.
