WESTMORELAND County Blind Association Accounting Supervisor in GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania

The accountant must be able to apply the principles of accounting to all financial operations for a Not-For-Profit organization. Apply the principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by compiling information, preparing profit and loss statements, and utilizing appropriate accounting control procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Prepare profit and loss statements and monthly closing and cost accounting reports
  2. Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts; such as general ledger, and document business transactions
  3. Establish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures
  4. Analyze and review budgets and expenditures for local, state, federal, and private funding contracts and grants
  5. Monitor and review accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness
  6. Prepare and review revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices, and other accounting documents
  7. Analyze revenue and expenditure trends and recommend appropriate budget levels and ensure expenditure control
  8. Supervise accounting staff and oversee all accounting activities
  9. Resolve accounting discrepancies
  10. Prepare written procedures for all accounting activites
  11. Develop and establish new policy and procedure for the accounting department
  12. Oversee and maintain the cash management system
  13. Supervise the input and handling of financial data and reports for the company's automated accounting systems
  14. Interact with external auditors in completing audits
  15. Participate in the analysis of time study and piece rate evaluation for incentive based production workers
  16. Develop and recommend methods of coordinating the financial recordkeeping activities of the several different departments/programs within the company
  17. Coordinate the recordkeeping and accounting data received from and sent to different Not-For-Profit and government agencies using different computerized software systems
  18. Oversee employee time worked and usage of vacation/PTO/ sick days
  19. Process biweekly payroll for all employees
  20. File quarterly payroll taxes and prepare the annual W-2 and 1099 forms
  21. Provide accounting orientation for new staff and assistants
  22. Engage in cross training and interdepartmental support
  23. Maintain compliance with ISO standards and procedures
  24. Accounting and recordkeeping related to the Photo ID centers
  25. Other duties and activities as needed
