Position: Maintenance Tech IPay: $19-25/HR. Paid Weekly ($2.50 Shift Differential + $1,500 Sign-on Bonus).Schedule: 3rd Shift, Mon-Friday, 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM.Position Summary: The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for repairing and maintaining plant machinery and mechanical equipment. This includes working on equipment, fixtures, and both power and hand tools. In addition, the role involves assisting with machine installations and diagnosing or troubleshooting system malfunctions to ensure optimal performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safety Commitment:

  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.

  • Maintenance and Repair:

  • Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on industrial machinery and equipment.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using test equipment and hand tools.

  • Fabricate and install mechanical parts as needed.

  • Perform rigging activities, safety-related functions, and other miscellaneous maintenance functions.

  • Assemble, install, test and maintain electrical or electrical wiring, equipment, machinery, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand, power, and precision measuring tools.

  • Connect wiring to circuit breakers, transformers, and other components.

  • Program and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) and PLC systems.

  • Utilize welding and oxyacetylene torch work safely and effectively.

  • Calculate, lay-out/draw, balance and align equipment.

  • Maintain electrical equipment to meet regulatory codes at the country, state, and federal levels.

  • Utilize or fabricate all types of mechanical parts (fitting, valves, etc.) needed from cold rolled steel, stainless steel, steel plate, structural steel members, and other metals.

  • Quality and Accuracy:

  • Ensure error-free work for internal and external customers.

  • Follow established processes to support safety and quality programs.

  • General Duties:

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

  • Work under direct supervision.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications and Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing or industrial environment.

  • Basic critical thinking skills and strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and assist with repairs and diagnostics of advanced processing equipment, CNC, material handling system, press brakes, lifting devices, and sawing equipment.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to diagnose and repair complex systems.

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while following direction as required.

  • Proficient in laser alignment and vibration monitoring techniques.

  • Competent in programming and troubleshooting Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).

  • Experience with mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics.

  • Experience in testing electrical systems and circuit continuity using devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes.

  • Competent in the use of oxyacetylene torch work and welding. Must maintain welding certification.

  • Ability to operate forklifts, high lifts, and cranes. Must maintain certifications for required equipment.

  • Proficiency in using hand tools (hammer, pliers, screwdriver, wrench, drill, grinder, and bander).

  • Ability to speak, write, and comprehend conversational English.

    Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods, including walking 2-5 miles per shift.

  • Ability to bend, sit, stand, twist, and stoop repeatedly for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing 25lbs – 50lbs from floor to waist and front carry up to 25lbs to 50lbs repeatedly per shift.

  • Ability to reach overhead, squat, kneel, and climb short ladders or steps.

  • Ability to perform work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.

  • Ability to maintain coordination of hand and finger movements to grasp and manipulate objects with precision.

  • Ability to read labels, follow safety and standard operating procedures, and communicate effectively in an industrial environment.

  • 20/30 vision with the use of corrective lenses.

  • Subject to environmental conditions that occur indoors and outdoors which include, but are not limited to:

  • Exposure to changing temperatures, loud noises, and vibration from use of equipment.

  • Hazards: proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, exposure to high heat, and exposure to chemicals.

  • Atmospheric conditions: fumes, odors, dust, mist, gas, or poor ventilation that may affect the respiratory system or skin.

  • Oils: air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
