Position Overview: Lead Plumbing Mechanic
A Lead Mechanic typically has8–10 years of trade experienceand should hold aJourneyman Plumber License. The ideal candidate is a confident leader with strong technical expertise, proven problem‑solving abilities, and the desire to guide and support a plumbing team.
Lead Mechanics enforce all OSHA, safety, code, and trade requirements while maintaining excellent workmanship and professionalism on every project.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Attitude
Demonstrate a confident, “take charge,” proactive mindset
Maintain a positive attitude toward problem‑solving and change
Lead and motivate plumbing crews
Share knowledge and mentor team members
Treat all individuals with professionalism and respect
Attendance & Work Ethic
Set the standard for punctuality and reliability
Arrive early to organize tasks and prepare the day
Ensure crews work full scheduled shifts
Plan work at least two weeks ahead
Use manpower, tools, and equipment efficiently
Maintain a clean, safe, and well‑organized jobsite
Safety
Know and enforce all OSHA and company safety policies
Ensure proper PPE (hard hats, safety glasses, steel‑toed shoes, etc.)
Understand basic OSHA requirements
Respond effectively to accidents and incidents
Conduct weekly safety meetings
Consult the Safety Coordinator when unsure about safety protocols
Technical Knowledge & Code Compliance
Perform and oversee all aspects of the plumbing trade
Ensure work meets or exceeds trade and code requirements
Read and interpret blueprints accurately
Work independently with little supervision
Solve problems using sound judgment
Coordinate tasks with other trades
Ensure all work is neat, professional, and system‑compliant
Problem Solving & Decision Making
Identify issues quickly and verify known facts
Generate effective alternative solutions
Select and implement the best option
Recognize when a problem requires higher‑level assistance
Planning & Scheduling
Plan job tasks step‑by‑step in proper sequence
Determine necessary tools, equipment, and ensure availability
Coordinate manpower needs with the Project Manager
Schedule material deliveries and plan storage for productivity
Maintain workflow efficiency and alignment with project schedules
Human Relations & Communication
Delegate tasks clearly and follow up for quality assurance
Communicate instructions effectively (verbal and written)
Listen and respond to team needs
Demonstrate leadership traits including:

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Lift up to 50 lbs.
Frequent climbing, kneeling, bending, reaching, and standing
Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
Work around standard construction materials and chemicals
Travel to project sites, including extended drive times
